Itinerary
Day 1
Meeting at the property reception, short briefing and tack-up, guided horseback trail through forest, then a brief opportunity to meet sled dogs after dismount.
Meet at Jänkä Resort – main building reception hall (check-in & briefing)
Arrive at the reception to check in, sign a short safety briefing, be fitted with a helmet and meet the guide. This check-in and preparation is included in the total tour time.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled ride start to allow time for check-in, helmet fitting and safety briefing.
- Wear practical, warm layers and sturdy closed-toe shoes suitable for stable areas; helmets are provided by the operator.
- If you are close to the recommended weight guideline (~80 kg) or have questions about suitability, mention this to staff at check-in.
Bear's Way – Guided horseback trail ride
Guided ride following forest and reindeer paths to enjoy peaceful Lapland scenery. Suitable for riders with less or no previous riding experience; the guide sets a walking and easy-pace ride appropriate for the group.
Tips from local experts:
- Dress in weather-appropriate layers and wear closed-toe shoes with a low heel; avoid loose scarves or items that can tangle.
- Be honest about your riding ability when booking and at check-in—if the guide considers ability overstated they may remove a rider for safety.
- The operator recommends participants not significantly exceeding 80 kg due to horse sizes; ask staff at check-in about horse suitability if needed.
Short meet-and-greet with sled dogs (after dismount)
After returning from the trek there is a short opportunity to meet the operator's sled dogs. This is a brief, supervised interaction; follow staff guidance around the animals.
Tips from local experts:
- Follow the guide's instructions when approaching dogs; do not rush or startle them and avoid sudden movements.
- If you want photos, check with staff first—they will indicate safe distances and handling rules.
- Wash or sanitize hands after touching animals; staff can advise on any allergy or safety concerns.
