A family-friendly RIB safari from the Puffin Marina in Borgarfjörður Eystri to the base of the sea cliffs for close views of Atlantic puffins and coastal marine wildlife. Short, sheltered meeting and fitting at the harbor followed by a one-hour RIB excursion and a brief return/de-gear period with access to the harbor viewing platforms.

Itinerary
Day 1
Meet at the Puffin Marina for fitting, then a one-hour RIB safari to the sea cliffs and return to the harbor for a short walk to the viewing platforms.
Check-in at the Puffin Marina
Meet at the harbor 15 minutes before departure for check-in and to be fitted with flotation suits and life jackets. Staff will confirm seating and safety briefing before boarding.

- Arrive 15 minutes early to allow staff time to fit flotation suits and life jackets; bring a warm, waterproof outer layer to wear under the suit.
- Use the harbor restrooms before boarding — facilities are limited on the boats and the hold time before departure is short.
- Wear closed, non-slip shoes (sneakers or hiking shoes) suitable for wet surfaces on the dock and boat ramp.
The Nature & Wildlife RIB Safari
One-hour RIB expedition leaving the harbor to reach the base of the sea cliffs and nearby hidden coves for close observation of Atlantic puffins and potential marine mammals. Crew will provide narration and safety instruction; remain seated and follow crew directions throughout.
Tips from local experts:
- This excursion involves boat motion and exposed conditions; it is not recommended for infants — choose a departure when your children can remain seated for the hour.
- Secure cameras and phones with straps; binoculars are helpful for spotting birds on the cliffs but keep devices attached when moving on deck.
- Follow crew instructions: stay seated when asked, supervise children closely on deck, and keep small hands away from rails and lines.
Arrival & The Colony
Return to the harbor where staff will assist with de-gearing. Guests can take a short, supervised walk up to the nearby wooden viewing platforms to see the puffin colony from above at their own pace. Restrooms and a small café are available at the harbor.

- After disembarking, de-gear promptly so suits can be dried and stored — hold space is limited at the harbor area.
- The wooden boardwalks and platforms have uneven surfaces; keep strollers folded and supervise children near cliff edges and railings.
- Use the harbor café or sheltered seating for a quick warm drink or snack while watching birds; avoid approaching nesting areas or disturbing wildlife.
