Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day private-car tour with gentle pacing and frequent rest stops for comfort and accessibility.
Hotel pickup in Beirut (private transfer)
Driver collects the group from their hotel or other location within the Beirut district and begins the transfer to the Chouf region. Light refreshments (bottled water and cake) and a short tour briefing are provided at the start.
Tips from local experts:
- Have your pickup location and room number ready to share with the driver at the confirmed pickup time.
- If you have mobility needs, notify the operator before departure so the vehicle can be arranged accordingly.
- Keep essential items (medication, glasses, light jacket) with you — the driver will hold luggage in the vehicle.
Visit Deir el Qamar (historic village walk)
Short guided walk through the old streets, souk, and key historic points of Deir el Qamar. The visit focuses on architecture, the village mosque and church exteriors, and the village museum area (entry to specific indoor museums not included). The pace is kept gentle with benches and shaded stops.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable, supportive shoes — some streets are uneven and slightly sloped.
- Rest benches and shaded cafés are available in the village square for short breaks.
- Bring a light jacket in May mornings; temperatures can be cooler in mountain villages.
Moussa Castle (exterior & grounds)
Guided visit to Moussa Castle (Moussa's Castle) to see the remarkable hilltop structure and its surrounding gardens. Note: entrance fees to enter the castle interior are not included and can be paid locally if desired. The visit emphasizes accessible viewpoints and seated rest areas where available.
Tips from local experts:
- Check any steps or narrow passages before committing to interior access; companion seating is available outside.
- Carry small-denomination local currency for entrance fees if you plan to enter the castle interior.
- Avoid midday sun by using available shaded areas; bring a hat and sunscreen for exposed viewpoints.
Beiteddine Palace (brief visit of courtyards and exterior)
Visit the historic Beiteddine Palace complex to view its courtyards, façades and ornamental gardens. The itinerary plans for a moderate-length stop to move at a comfortable pace; note that some palace areas have steps and uneven surfaces. Entrance fees are not included.
Tips from local experts:
- There are outdoor shaded areas and cafés near the palace for resting — use them between walking segments.
- Some palace sections have steps; if stairs are difficult, remain in courtyard areas that are flatter and still have excellent views.
- Bring cash for entrance fees or souvenirs; not all nearby vendors accept cards.
Lunch break (self-arranged)
Time allocated for lunch at a local restaurant or café in the Beiteddine/Deir el Qamar area. Lunch is not included in the tour price; the driver can recommend accessible restaurants with seating and restroom facilities.
Tips from local experts:
- Request a table with easy access and seating; many restaurants can accommodate dietary needs if told in advance.
- Carry cash for smaller family-run restaurants; larger places may accept cards.
- If mobility is a concern, choose a ground-floor restaurant and ask staff to reserve a seat away from stairs.
Ein W Zein (Ain Wazein) Grotto visit
Explore the limestone grotto and surrounding scenic viewpoints at Ein W Zein. The visit includes walking through the grotto entrance and nearby lookout points; access inside caves can include steps and lower headroom, so the guide will point out accessible routes and safety information.
Tips from local experts:
- Cave interiors can be cool and humid — bring a light layer and non-slip shoes for safe footing.
- If you have difficulty with steps or low ceilings, advise the driver/guide and they will point out the most accessible viewpoints.
- Bring a small torch only if you need extra light — the main path is usually lit, but some side areas are darker.
Return transfer and drop-off in Beirut
Comfortable drive back to Beirut with drop-off at the original pickup point or another agreed location within the Beirut district.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your preferred drop-off address with the driver at the start of the return drive.
- Expect the vehicle to have climate control — ask to adjust temperature for comfort during the journey.
- If you need assistance with luggage or steps at drop-off, notify the driver before arrival.
