Itinerary
Day 1
Half-day guided canyoning adventure in the Guadalmina Canyon. Meet in Benahavís, kit-up, short approach and 2.5-hour canyoning section with returns to the meeting point.
Welcome in Benahavís (quick check-in)
Quick arrival check: confirm bookings, health/fitness notes and collect any remaining waivers. Short orientation about meeting logistics and the timeline for the session.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early to find parking in the village streets — parking can be limited near the meeting point.
- Bring a small dry bag with a towel, spare clothes and ID; you’ll leave larger items in vehicles or the guides’ van.
- If you’re arriving from Marbella, expect a 20–30 minute drive; plan extra time for narrow village roads.
Meet your guide — Parque Torre Leonera
Meet your guide at the Parque Torre Leonera parking area 15 minutes before the activity start. The guide will stand next to a white van with the TUUR logo. If the meeting point changes, the team will notify you in advance.
Tips from local experts:
- Look for the white TUUR- branded van or ask at the nearby bar/café if you’re unsure where the guide is waiting.
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet or sandy; you’ll change into the wetsuit shortly after meeting.
- If travelling with a group, nominate one person to collect everyone’s waivers to speed up check-in.
Gear up
Put on your canyoning equipment: full-length 5mm wetsuit, harness, helmet and (optional) canyoning boots. Guides will fit and check all equipment and explain safe use.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a tight-fitting swimsuit or base layer to wear under the wetsuit to avoid chafing.
- A quick photo of sizes/labels helps if you need to swap gear; ask guides for boot sizes early as stock can be limited.
- A small zip-lock bag for keys and phone is useful; phones should be left dry unless using guide-provided waterproof cases.
Approach to the canyon entrance
Short walk to the river access point. Guides will give a safety briefing and demonstrate basic movement, jumps (optional) and abseil techniques before entering the gorge.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear shoes with firm grip — aqua/water shoes are not allowed; bring hiking or sports shoes with a solid sole.
- Expect a short uneven walk; if you have a pack, keep it minimal and secure it in the guide’s van if possible.
- Listen closely during the safety briefing — it covers signals, group spacing and what to do at each obstacle.
Canyoning time!
Main canyoning section: walk, swim, slide, optional jumps (4–7 m) and one 5 m abseil. Activity in the gorge lasts about 2.5 hours, led and supervised by internationally certified canyoning guides.
Tips from local experts:
- If you’re nervous about jumps, tell your guide — all jumps are optional and guides will suggest safer alternatives.
- Keep to the group’s pace and use the guide’s rope/hand signals on slick sections to avoid slips.
- The guides take waterproof photos; handover of phones/cameras is managed by guides to ensure safety and capture key moments.
Return to the meeting point & kit removal
Walk back to the starting area, remove equipment, change into dry clothes and review the photo report with the guide. Thank the team and confirm pickup or onward travel plans.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a quick-dry towel and a change of clothes — you’ll be cold once wet, especially in spring/autumn.
- Check the photo report before you leave so guides can transfer images to you; have a phone cable/space ready.
- If you rented canyoning boots, return them promptly; confirm any fits or issues with the guide before departing.
