Itinerary
Day 1
Private, accessible city tour of Bogotá visiting major historic and cultural sites in La Candelaria, central museums, Plaza de Bolívar and Monserrate. Optional short coffee tasting and optional lunch at the National Museum are included in the route as choices during the day.
Recogida en el Hotel
Private vehicle pickup from your hotel or Airbnb within the Bogotá metro area. Driver and guide will confirm exact pickup point in advance.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your hotel name and front entrance the evening before; drivers may not be able to enter some gated compounds.
- If mobility assistance is required (wheelchair, walker), notify the operator in advance to ensure appropriate vehicle and boarding assistance.
- Have one small bag or items you need for the day accessible; larger luggage should remain in your room.
Museo del Oro
Visit the Museo del Oro to see Colombia's pre-Hispanic goldwork and learn about indigenous cultures (time allocated for a focused, accessible visit).
Tips from local experts:
- The museum has elevators and seating areas; use the accessible route if you prefer fewer stairs.
- Bring a light sweater — some exhibition rooms are air-conditioned and may feel cool.
- Restroom facilities are available on-site; notify staff if you need a quiet zone or seat while viewing exhibits.
Chorro de Quevedo
Short guided walk to El Chorro de Quevedo to experience Bogotá's colonial heart and cobbled streets; the guide will point out history and architecture while keeping walking distances moderate.
Tips from local experts:
- Sturdy, flat-soled shoes are recommended — some streets are cobblestone and uneven.
- Walking segments are kept short and include frequent stops for rest and explanation.
- If you use a mobility aid, let the guide know; there are accessible routing options within La Candelaria with minimal steps.
Cata de Café Colombiano (opcional)
Optional Colombian coffee tasting at a nearby café in the historic center (30 minutes). This is optional and can be skipped or shortened for comfort.
Tips from local experts:
- Inform staff of any caffeine sensitivity; decaf or smaller samples can be arranged.
- Seating is usually available; request a table with shade if seated outdoors.
- If you prefer to skip standing portions, ask for a seated tasting and shorter explanations.
La Candelaria Old Town
Guided stroll through La Candelaria to view colonial facades, street art and to point out cultural highlights (guide may mention the Botero Museum area; note the Botero Museum is closed on Tuesdays).
Tips from local experts:
- Short, flat walking loops are used to minimize fatigue; ask the guide for seating breaks when needed.
- Keep a hat and water available — sun exposure can be strong on open streets.
- If you plan to enter any small museums, tell the guide so they can prioritize accessible entrances.
Plaza de Bolivar
Visit Plaza de Bolívar to view major government buildings and learn key moments in Colombian history from the guide (short, accessible visit).
Tips from local experts:
- There are benches around the square for rest; use them between photo stops.
- The square is open-air — if officials or events are present, the guide will adjust the route for safety.
- Keep belongings secure and avoid large bags on crowded areas near the buildings.
Lunch at the National Museum (optional)
Optional lunch near or at the Museo Nacional de Colombia (if chosen, this will be a seated, relaxed meal; otherwise, the guide will adjust timing and proceed to Monserrate).
Tips from local experts:
- Advise the guide of dietary restrictions in advance so options can be selected with minimal delay.
- The museum restaurant and nearby cafeterias have seating; request accessible seating when reserving.
- If you prefer to skip a sit-down lunch, ask for a short rest stop and bottled water instead.
Monserrate Hill
Visit Monserrate for panoramic views of Bogotá. The guide will use the funicular/cable car and accessible paths where possible; time allocated for ascent, short viewing and descent.
Tips from local experts:
- Monserrate is at higher altitude; move slowly and rest if you feel short of breath.
- The funicular and cable car have priority access for guests with reduced mobility — notify the guide in advance.
- Carry a light jacket; temperatures at the top are usually cooler and can be breezy.
Regreso al Hotel
Return transfer to your hotel or drop-off point within the Bogotá metro area. Driver will assist with brief help exiting the vehicle if required.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your preferred drop-off entrance with the guide before finishing the tour.
- If you need assistance carrying small items to your room, request help from the driver in advance.
- Keep any medication or personal needs accessible in a small day bag for the return trip.
