Itinerary
Day 1
Afternoon/evening focused on an intimate wine tasting followed by a riverside golden-hour walk and a romantic dinner.
Meet & Check‑in — 25 Av. Thiers
Arrival, quick welcome and check-in with your wine hosts. This is where the session begins — a short orientation and seating before the tasting.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 15 minutes early to settle in and complete the short check-in (the session starts promptly); ask for a seat near the window or patio for a cozier corner.
- If you prefer more intimacy, mention the private tasting add‑on (€50/person) when you check in — it can secure a secluded table for just your party.
- Carry a light jacket — tasting rooms and cellars can feel cool in early autumn evenings; layers keep the mood comfortable for lingering conversations.
Guided Wine Tasting — 6 Bordeaux Wines with Charcuterie & Cheese
1 hour 15 minute guided tasting led in English (or French/Spanish) by trained sommeliers. Taste 6 wines (including a mystery wine, two whites, three reds and a sweet wine) paired with curated charcuterie & cheese. Includes a tasting booklet and water.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask your hosts (Cécilia & Mathilde) to note any personal favourites — they’ll often point out a bottle you can buy in the cellar to take home and prolong the evening.
- Sip water between tastings and use the tasting booklet to jot impressions — it makes a lovely keepsake and doubles as a conversation starter during dinner.
- If you want the tasting outdoors, request the private patio when you arrive (weather permitting) for a more romantic, daylight experience.
Riverside Stroll to Place de la Bourse & Miroir d'eau (Golden Hour)
A gentle 20–30 minute walk to the riverfront to enjoy the golden-hour light at Place de la Bourse and the famous Miroir d'eau — an ideal moment for photos and quiet conversation.
Tips from local experts:
- Head to the Miroir d'eau for reflections of the square at golden hour — it's particularly romantic; plan for a short photo session together before dinner.
- Wear comfortable shoes for the short cobbled stretches; the route is stroller-friendly if you’re carrying anything delicate (note: not wheelchair accessible in all sections).
- If you'd like a quieter spot, walk a little east along Quai Richelieu toward the river — you’ll find a bench with views of the Garonne and fewer crowds than at the mirror pool.
Special Moment — Sunset at Miroir d'eau
Pause together at the iconic reflecting pool for the sunset and city reflections — a short dedicated moment to soak in the view and toast (optional) with a small bottle purchased after tasting.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring the tasting booklet or a small souvenir bottle you buy after the tasting for an impromptu toast — vendors near Place de la Bourse will happily open a purchased bottle if asked.
- If it’s breezy, stand on the east side of the pool (closer to the river) to avoid spray and get better sunset colors on photographs.
- Plan 10–15 minutes here to avoid crowd build-up and capture photos while there’s still warm light on the façades.
Romantic Dinner — Le Gabriel (Place de la Bourse)
Finish your evening with a refined riverside dinner at Le Gabriel. Classic French cuisine in an elegant setting — perfect for a slow, special-night finale.
Tips from local experts:
- Reserve a table in advance and request a window or terrace seat overlooking Place de la Bourse — it elevates the romantic atmosphere after your tasting.
- Mention you attended a tasting earlier in the evening; the sommelier can suggest a bottle from the same appellations you enjoyed to continue the experience.
- Dress smart-casual — Le Gabriel leans toward refined dining; a light blazer or elegant dress will make the evening feel special.
