Itinerary
Day 1
Meet at AquaWorld for check-in, safety briefing and a 30-minute guided Waverunner ride, followed by lunch and a beach stroll.
Meet & Check‑In at AquaWorld (Boulevard Kukulcán, Km 15.3)
Arrive at the AquaWorld desk in the Hotel Zone to present your ticket, sign waivers and confirm whether you'd like a lagoon or ocean-side route.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 15–30 minutes early to complete paperwork and avoid holding up the group — large groups are processed first-come.
- Bring a photo ID (drivers licence or passport) because operators often check age for drivers (minimum driving age 18).
- Store non-waterproof valuables in the AquaWorld lockers or a waterproof drybag — pockets will get wet during the ride.
Safety Briefing & Gear Up
Short instructor briefing on operation, local navigation rules, hand signals and life-jacket fitting. Practice throttle/steering in shallow water if needed.
Tips from local experts:
- Pay close attention to the instructor's stop/slow hand signals — they matter when multiple runners are on the water.
- Wear reef-safe sunscreen (reef preservation is important here) and put it on before gearing up—re-application is tricky once on the water.
- If anyone in your group wants extra practice, ask for a 5-minute supervised ‘practice lap’ before the timed ride starts.
30‑Minute Guided Waverunner Ride (Yamaha VX 700) — Lagoon or Ocean
Your private guided 30-minute Waverunner session. The guide will lead a route across the Nichupté Lagoon (calmer, good for photos) or out to the ocean-side (more open water, more speed).
Tips from local experts:
- Decide as a group whether you want the calmer lagoon route for photos and smooth gliding, or the ocean-side route for bigger chops and more adrenaline.
- Bring a small waterproof camera or attach a floating wrist strap — candid group action shots are great here; phones should be in waterproof cases.
- Expect a mandatory reef preservation fee (approx. $12 USD per Waverunner) — bring cash just in case the operator accepts cash only.
Return, Rinse & Quick Photos
Return to the dock, rinse off in the nearby freshwater shower (if available), gather photos and swap stories before heading to lunch.
Tips from local experts:
- Use the freshwater rinse to remove salt and sunscreen — it helps prevent irritation and protects camera gear.
- Ask the guide to tag any group photos they took; many operators will send photos via WhatsApp or a shared link.
- Tip the guide in cash if they gave a great ride — local staff appreciate small tips and it keeps service personal for future bookings.
Casual Seafood Lunch at Navíos (Hotel Zone)
Relaxed sit-down lunch with lagoon views — share ceviches, grilled fish and local specialties. Good spot for groups to chat and cool off after the ride.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask for a table with lagoon views when you arrive — it gives a nicer vibe for photos and group selfies.
- Share a few appetizers (ceviche, aguachile) — portions are perfect for sharing and keep the mood social and light.
- If someone is sunburned, order dishes with avocado or plain grilled fish — easy on the stomach and gentle after sun exposure.
Stroll & Photos at Playa Delfines
Short transfer to Playa Delfines for iconic Cancún panoramas (great group shots with turquoise water). Walk the sand, relax on the public beach deck and take in the view.
Tips from local experts:
- Walk up to the public viewpoint deck for the classic Cancún photo (look for the 'Cancún' letters nearby) — go early afternoon for good light in March.
- Playa Delfines is public and has lifeguards; keep belongings visible or use the buddy system — it’s busy but safer than many other beaches.
- If anyone needs shade, look for palapas or bring a lightweight beach umbrella — March sun is strong even in spring.
Optional: Refreshments or Drinks at a Hotel Zone Bar (Free Time)
Wrap up with an optional cold drink or gelato in the Hotel Zone before heading back to your hotel — flexible end to the activity day.
Tips from local experts:
- Choose a chilled rooftop or beach bar for a relaxed vibe; ask the bartender for local beers or a michelada if your group feels adventurous.
- If you’re heading back to downtown Cancún later, consider a shared taxi — group fares are cost-efficient and quick.
- Check opening hours in advance; many Hotel Zone venues change hours seasonally, but March typically has full daytime service.
