Itinerary
Day 1
Morning pickup in Casablanca and transfer to Chefchaouen; afternoon guided time in the blue medina, dinner and overnight in Chefchaouen.
Hotel pickup in Casablanca and transfer to Chefchaouen
Your driver will collect you from your hotel in Casablanca and begin the transfer north to Chefchaouen in an air-conditioned vehicle. Short comfort stops are included en route. This activity is the scheduled start of the trip; please be ready in the hotel lobby at the pickup time.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm the exact hotel pickup location with reception the night before and be in the lobby 5–10 minutes early.
- Bring motion-sickness remedies if you are sensitive; the route includes some mountain sections with curves.
- Keep essential medications and ID in a small day bag that stays with you during the transfer.
Guided visit and free time in Chefchaouen (Outa el Hammam & Medina)
On arrival you will meet the local guide and have guided time in the blue-painted medina including Outa el Hammam square, the Kasbah area and nearby craft workshops. After the guided portion you will have free time to explore narrow alleys, local wool and leather shops and buy regional goods. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Chefchaouen are included.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes—the medina streets are cobbled and can be uneven.
- If you have limited mobility, request the guide to tailor the route to avoid steep, long stair runs in the medina.
- Carry a small bottle of water and a light layer; evenings in the Rif Mountains can cool quickly.
Dinner and overnight at hotel in Chefchaouen (included)
Return to your hotel in Chefchaouen for dinner (included) and overnight. Use this time to rest; the hotel morning breakfast is included on Day 2.
Tips from local experts:
- Inform the hotel of any dietary needs at check-in to ensure the included dinner meets your needs.
- Ask reception for a ground-floor room or a room near an elevator if stairs are difficult.
- Keep a small light with you for short walks in the evening—some medina lanes are dimly lit.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel, further time to explore Chefchaouen at an unhurried pace, then return transfer to Casablanca arriving in the evening.
Hotel breakfast (included)
Enjoy breakfast at your Chefchaouen hotel (included). Use the morning to prepare for check-out and a final short walk in the medina if you wish.
Tips from local experts:
- Have breakfast in the hotel dining area; ask for a takeaway snack if you prefer a later small meal while travelling.
- Confirm your luggage is ready in the lobby before leaving for the final morning walk.
- If you require any help with taxi or porter service for luggage, request assistance at reception in the morning.
Morning free time in Chefchaouen
Use the morning for relaxed exploration of the medina, last-minute shopping for local wool goods or goat cheese, or a short visit to the kasbah exhibits. The guide can assist with recommendations and less-steep routes if required.
Tips from local experts:
- Bargain politely when shopping; keep transactions in cash and small bills for easier change.
- Ask the guide or hotel staff for a short, level walking route if long stair climbs are difficult.
- Keep any purchases in a secure bag and avoid crowded alley junctions when carrying valuables.
Return transfer to Casablanca (hotel drop-off)
Depart Chefchaouen in the afternoon for the return transfer to Casablanca. The driver will drop you at your Casablanca hotel on arrival. Trip includes short comfort stops en route.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep travel documents and any medication with you; place larger luggage in the vehicle hold for the transfer.
- Expect changing temperatures on the route—bring a light jacket for the evening arrival in Casablanca.
- If you need an earlier or later drop-off in Casablanca, notify the driver in advance so routing can be adjusted where feasible.

Why this experience
Chefchaouen's blue-washed medina is one of Morocco's most iconic sights—but to truly appreciate it, you need time to settle in, walk at a relaxed pace, and experience the town as locals do. This 2-day small-group journey from Casablanca is designed with a comfortable travel rhythm in mind: your guide picks you up from your hotel, handles all the logistics, and leads you through the medina's quieter corners and main gathering spaces. You'll spend time at Outa el Hammam, the main square where life revolves around cafés and street vendors, then explore the blue-painted alleyways without feeling rushed.
The itinerary includes hotel pickup, a guided medina exploration with a local guide who knows the town's history and social fabric, overnight accommodation in a traditional riad, breakfast the next morning, and return transport to Casablanca. The air-conditioned vehicle shields you from the journey's heat while the guide manages navigation and context. It's designed for travelers—especially seniors or those who prefer guided structure—who want the authentic Chefchaouen experience without overwhelming logistics or physical demands.
Small-group travel means you're not alone, but the groups stay intimate (typically 4–8 people), allowing for personal attention and flexibility. Your guide can adjust the pace if someone needs more time in a particular spot, and you have the freedom to ask questions and linger in moments that move you.
Before you go
- Best time: Spring and autumn are perfect—temperatures are comfortable (18–25°C), ideal for walking without heat exhaustion. Winter brings cooler evenings but clear skies. Avoid summer crowds and intense heat.
- Budget: Mid-range. Check the booking widget for current tour pricing. Hotel pickup, small-group transport, local guide, overnight accommodation, and breakfast are included. Budget extra for lunch, afternoon tea, and tips to your guide.
- Difficulty: Easy. The pace is deliberately gentle, with frequent stops and rest opportunities. The medina has uphill sections and narrow, uneven streets, but your guide sets a comfortable tempo and you're free to take breaks anytime.
- What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes (essential for the medina's cobblestones), layers for temperature changes, sunscreen, a hat or light cap, a camera, cash for meals and tips, and any medications you regularly take.
- Getting there: Your guide picks you up at your hotel in Casablanca in the early morning (typically 7–8 AM) and the return journey brings you back by early evening on day two. No additional transportation needed.
- Accessibility: The medina involves walking uphill on narrow, uneven streets with occasional steps. Your guide can suggest the flattest routes through town and pace the day accordingly. Discuss any mobility concerns in advance—guides are experienced in working with travelers of all abilities.
Frequently asked questions
What's included in the overnight accommodation? A traditional riad—a guest house with a central courtyard, basic but comfortable rooms, and genuine hospitality. Most have shared or private options. Breakfast is included; lunch and dinner are at your own pace and expense.
How much walking is there each day? Day one involves 2–3 hours of guided exploration through the medina, broken into sections with plenty of stops for photos, tea, and rest. Day two is typically a lighter morning walk before departure. Total walking is about 4–5 hours spread across both days.
Can I explore on my own after the guided portion? Yes. After your guide's tour and dinner on evening one, you have free time to wander, sit in the square, or relax. Many travelers enjoy sunset or sunrise in the medina on their own.
What if I want to extend this into a longer Morocco tour? This 2-day trip can anchor a larger itinerary. Consider the 9-day desert tour or 8-day tour from Tangier that include Chefchaouen as a key stop on a broader journey.
Is the small-group setting comfortable? Yes, groups stay between 4–8 travelers, allowing for genuine connection and guide flexibility. It's intimate without being solitary, and shared experiences often lead to friendships.
