Visit Shell Museum Cavtat (self-guided)
Meet on location at the Shell Museum Cavtat to explore a private, family-run shell collection and learn about mollusks, ancient maritime myths, and the role of shells in human culture. The visit is self-guided; an optional audio guide is available as an upgrade. Expect close displays and limited seating. Note: a small gift (St. Jacob’s Scallop shell) is included for children as part of the family-friendly visit. No guided commentary is provided as part of this activity.
Tips from local experts:
- There are no public toilets at the museum — plan restroom stops before arrival or after the visit.
- The museum has narrow display areas; supervise young children and consider leaving bulky strollers at your accommodation or fold them before entering.
- If you want the audio guide, bring lightweight headphones or ask staff on arrival about the self-guided audio option and where to collect it.
