Pickup and transfer from Flic en Flac (start of tour)
Driver collects guests from their hotel or agreed pickup point in Flic en Flac and begins the drive north towards Cap Malheureux. Vehicle, driver and bottled water are provided.
Tips from local experts:
- Be ready in the lobby 5–10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time to keep the day on schedule.
- If you require step-free pickup, confirm the hotel’s main entrance or lobby meeting point with the driver at booking.
- Keep a light jacket available for air-conditioned vehicle comfort during transfers.
Red Roof Church (Cap Malheureux)
Short visit and photo stop at the well-known small white chapel with a red roof overlooking the turquoise lagoon; ideal for coastal views and photos.
Tips from local experts:
- Paths around the church are uneven; use sturdy shoes and allow a helper if mobility is limited.
- Morning light is good for photos; plan brief, seated rests on nearby benches if needed.
- There is limited shade — bring a hat and sunscreen for short outdoor waits.
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden (Pamplemousses)
Guided stroll through the historic botanical garden to see giant water lilies, international palm varieties, spice plants and endemic flora; brief wildlife viewing (tortoises, birds).
Tips from local experts:
- Paths are mostly flat but can be uneven in places; bring comfortable, supportive shoes for walking.
- There are public restrooms at the garden entrance—plan short comfort breaks before the walk.
- Carry a refillable water bottle; bottled water is provided in the vehicle but refill facilities help keep you hydrated on the walk.
Drive into Port Louis: Chinatown & Old Street (orienting drive and short walk)
Drive into the capital to see Port Louis’ Chinatown and the historic streets. The driver will point out Parliament and the Prime Minister’s offices during the city approach, followed by a short, assisted walk in the old quarter if suitable.
Tips from local experts:
- If walking is difficult, request the driver to do a short scenic drive-through and a minimal short-stop walk.
- Watch for traffic when crossing narrow streets; wait for the guide to escort the group safely.
- Carry any required medication or mobility aids in a small bag for easy access during the short walk.
Fort Adelaide (La Citadelle) viewpoint
Visit the historic Fort Adelaide (La Citadelle) for elevated panoramic views over Port Louis, the harbor and surrounding hills. Short time on site to enjoy vistas and photos.
Tips from local experts:
- The fort sits on a hill with steps and slopes—those with limited mobility may prefer to remain near the vehicle; confirm accessibility needs with the driver.
- Bring a hat and water; the site is exposed and can be windy at the viewpoint.
- Plan brief stops on benches or lookout points; the guide can assist with short, level-access viewpoints where available.
Caudan Waterfront (Port Louis) — lunch/rest stop
Short free time at the Caudan Waterfront for walking, shopping or having lunch (lunch not included). Plenty of cafés and restaurants with seating; the driver will wait at the agreed pickup time.
Tips from local experts:
- If you need seated, accessible restaurants, ask the driver to recommend nearby cafés with step-free access.
- Keep personal items with you and note the pickup time — allow extra time for restroom visits.
- Ask staff for allergy-friendly options if needed; many waterfront restaurants can accommodate basic dietary needs.
Aapravasi Ghat (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
Visit the Aapravasi Ghat historic site and learn briefly about the island’s indentured labour history through preserved ruins and interpretive panels.
Tips from local experts:
- The site has informational panels — bring reading glasses if helpful for small text panels.
- Photography is allowed; keep to designated paths to protect archaeological remains.
- Limited seating onsite—if you need extended rests, let the guide arrange a nearby shaded spot or return to the vehicle.
Return transfer to Flic en Flac (end of tour)
Private drive back to guests’ hotels in the Flic en Flac area. Driver will assist with hotel drop-off and luggage if required.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect a vehicle arrival time at the hotel between 16:30 and 17:00 depending on traffic; keep the driver informed of any immediate next plans.
- If you need assistance up hotel steps, ask the driver ahead of time so they can pause at the main entrance.
- Keep any souvenirs or purchases secured; the driver can help load bags into the vehicle at transfer time.
