Meet at Pântano do Sul / Bar do Arante
Group meeting, equipment check, short safety briefing and wildlife/plant images review with the guide. Meeting point is in the traditional fishing neighborhood of Pântano do Sul; Bar do Arante is the designated meeting landmark.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10 minutes early to allow time for parking and meeting the guide at the bar entrance.
- Bring a printed or digital voucher to show the guide when you meet them.
- Wear comfortable shoes and have a small daypack ready; guide will run through essential gear before departure.
Hike through Lagoinha do Leste Natural Park toward Morro da Coroa
Start the trail from Pântano do Sul into the Lagoinha do Leste Natural Park. Guides will point out local flora and fauna and attempt bird/monkey spotting en route to Morro da Coroa. Trail to the viewpoint takes around 2 hours and is steep/difficult in parts.
Tips from local experts:
- Carry at least 1–1.5 liters of water per person; refill points are not available on the trail.
- Wear closed, grippy hiking shoes; sections are steep and may be slippery after rain.
- Keep cameras ready but secured on straps—trail sections include narrow/uneven footing.
Morro da Coroa viewpoint — photography session
Stop at Morro da Coroa to contemplate the famous view and for a guided photography session led by the photographer guide. Time for landscape photos and short rest at the viewpoint.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a wide-angle lens or use panorama mode for postcard-style landscape shots.
- Protect phone and camera from wind and salt spray; use lens cloths kept in a sealed pocket.
- Allow space for other hikers during the session; the viewpoint can be narrow—follow the guide's positioning advice.
Descend to Lagoinha do Leste beach and lagoon — beach time
Descend the steep section to Lagoinha do Leste beach. Enjoy time at the beach and the warmer lagoon for bathing and more photography. Guides will explain local ecosystem details and offer composition tips.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring swimwear and a quick-dry towel if you plan to bathe in the lagoon; there are no changing facilities.
- Keep an eye on belongings when entering the water; use a dry bag for valuables and electronics.
- If you might return by boat, bring small change in cash — boat service is run by local fishermen and is not included.
Return hike via the 2 km trail to Pântano do Sul
Begin the return on the approx. 2 km trail back toward Pântano do Sul, with interpretive commentary about the Atlantic Forest. The return hike takes about 1 hour 30 minutes; the guide will finish with local restaurant recommendations at the endpoint.
Tips from local experts:
- Pace yourself on the return—the trail includes uneven steps; take short breaks as needed.
- Carry any trash with you; there are limited waste facilities at the trail endpoints.
- Plan to have cash or card ready if you choose to stop at a nearby restaurant after the hike; the guide will point out recommended options.
Wrap-up and local restaurant recommendations (end point)
Short wrap-up at the finish in Pântano do Sul. Guide will provide recommendations for local, traditional restaurants to recharge after the hike. Tour ends at the meeting neighborhood.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask the guide for restaurant suggestions suited to your group size and dietary needs.
- If you need transport from Pântano do Sul, plan for a taxi or rideshare; public transport is limited in the immediate area.
- Check pockets and equipment before leaving—small items can be left behind on trails or beaches.
