Itinerary
Day 1
Meet in Grundarfjörður for a guided kayaking excursion along the coast to view Mt. Kirkjufell. The activity is paced for families and beginners, with a safety briefing, gearing up, guided paddling (approx. 70 minutes on the sea), return to shore and warm refreshments.
Kayking Adventures by Mt. Kirkjufell
Meet at Sæból 14 in Grundarfjörður for check-in and a full safety demonstration. The guided tour uses stable sit-on-top kayaks suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers. Expect ~70 minutes paddling time on the sea to view Mt. Kirkjufell from multiple angles. Tandem kayaks are available for children aged 10–15 to ride with an adult. Tour includes experienced guide, life vests, dry suits and shoes, safety demo and warm refreshments at the end.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start at Sæból 14, 350 Grundarfjörður for check-in and gear fitting.
- Dress in warm layers (thermal base layer and wool socks); a dry suit is provided, but bring a hat and gloves for on-water wind chill.
- Bring a small waterproof bag or leave valuables on shore; children aged 10–15 can use tandem kayaks with an accompanying adult (not suitable for younger children).
