Itinerary
Day 1
Half-day buggy/ATV loop: coffee tasting, cave swim, then beach time at Macao. Operates as a pick-up service from the Punta Cana area; total activity time 4 hours.
Traditional coffee house – tasting & briefing
Start the tour with a stop at a traditional coffee house for an introduction to Dominican coffee production and a guided tasting of organic/local varieties. Staff provide a short safety briefing and vehicle orientation before departure onto the trails.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dusty — briefing and vehicle orientation include a short on-site demo.
- Bring any dietary/allergy notes to the guide before tasting (the tasting includes local products).
- Keep a small daypack handy for sunscreen, ID, and any personal items you’ll need during the ride.
Cueva Taina – sinkhole swim & exploration
Continue to Cueva Taina, a natural sinkhole where participants can cool off and swim in clear water. The guide will explain local cultural significance and supervise safe access to the water. Time allocated for swimming and short exploration of the immediate rock formations.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear water shoes or secure sandals — the cave floor can be rocky; avoid bare feet.
- Leave valuables on the vehicle or use a small dry bag; do not bring glass containers into the cave area.
- Follow the guide’s instructions for water entry and exit; currents and footing can change after rain.
Playa Macao – beach time and swim
Finish the loop at Playa Macao for free time on one of Punta Cana’s most scenic beaches. Enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and panoramic coastal views before returning to the pick-up area/vehicle for the trip back.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a towel and sunscreen — towels are not provided on the tour and sun protection is essential.
- Store electronics in a waterproof pouch or dry bag while on the sand and during swims.
- Be mindful of surf conditions; follow the guide’s guidance about safe swimming zones at Macao.
