Itinerary
Day 1
Half-day small-group husky safari. Meeting at Hotel Metsähirvas; please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled meeting time. If you requested pickup, allow additional time—pickup is available from selected locations and increases total time including transfers.
Arrival, check-in and clothing fit
Meet at Hotel Metsähirvas for check-in, child-friendly briefing and fitting of thermal clothing (overalls, shoes, gloves, hat, wool socks) if needed. Guide will cover safety, how to interact with the dogs and what to expect on the route.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10 minutes early for a smooth check-in and to allow time for children to get dressed comfortably.
- Bring a small backpack with a snack and water for children — guides recommend keeping hands free for dressing.
- Notify staff on arrival of any mobility needs or young children so guides can adapt briefing and placement.
Guided husky ride through the forest (approx. 5 km)
Guided husky carriage (autumn/snowless) or sled (when snow permits). The guide will drive the carriage unless conditions allow self-driving; the guide will provide instructions if guests will drive the sled. Route is through nearby pristine forest; distance and pace may be adjusted for safety and for the dogs' welfare.
Tips from local experts:
- Dress in layers under the provided outerwear; keep children's faces covered from wind with a scarf or balaclava.
- Follow the guide's instructions around the dogs — children should wait for a handler before petting to ensure the dog is calm.
- Carry motion-sickness remedies if your child is sensitive; the carriage may be bumpy on forest trails.
