Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your exact pickup time the day before the tour by email or WhatsApp so you know when the vehicle will arrive.
- Have your passport or ID and hotel name ready for the driver/guide at pickup for verification.
- Bring a small neck pillow and light blanket if you plan to rest during the long transfer.
Arrival in Cairo — meet your Egyptologist guide
Arrival in Cairo and meeting with your professional Egyptologist guide. This is the moment the guided portion of the day begins.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep your guide’s contact number or the tour company’s WhatsApp message handy in case of any delay.
- Store snacks and any valuables in a small daypack you can carry during the Cairo visit.
- Allow a short comfort break after the transfer before starting the museum visit.
The Egyptian Museum (Tahrir Square)
Guided visit to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. See major artifacts from ancient Egypt, including the treasures associated with Tutankhamun. Museum visit time is approximately 2 hours.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a government-issued ID or passport; many museums require ID for entry or for ticket records.
- The museum has a lot of stairs and exhibits; wear comfortable shoes and plan short rest breaks during the visit.
- Photography rules can vary by hall; follow the guide’s instructions regarding flash and restricted rooms.
Lunch at a local restaurant (Tasty)
Buffet-style lunch at a local restaurant. Bottled water is provided. Drinks are not included.
Tips from local experts:
- If you have dietary restrictions, inform the guide before lunch so the restaurant can accommodate you where possible.
- Carry any required medication for food allergies and mention allergies to staff before eating.
- Keep a small amount of local currency for drinks or extra items not included in the buffet.
The Great Sphinx of Giza
Visit the Great Sphinx — the guardian of the pyramids. Time at the Sphinx is approximately 45 minutes for photos and explanation by the guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Stay with the group and follow the guide’s directions for the best, safe photo spots.
- The area is exposed; bring sunscreen and a hat for sun protection.
- Be prepared to pass through perimeter checkpoints — keep personal items secure and follow the guide.
The Great Pyramids of Giza (Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure)
Guided visit to the Giza Plateau to view the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the smaller pyramids; the guide will explain construction, history and layout. Time allocated: approx. 2.5 hours.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable shoes as the terrain is uneven and sandy; watch your step near rock and stone surfaces.
- Carry a refillable water bottle — bottled water is supplied during the tour but having a small bottle during walking is useful.
- Avoid bringing large or oversized luggage on the tour; the operator does not allow large luggage inside the minivan.
Papyrus & Perfume Workshops (optional)
Optional visit to local papyrus and natural perfume workshops. Demonstrations of papyrus-making and perfume blending are available; shopping is optional.
Tips from local experts:
- If you plan to buy items, check VAT/tax and local customs rules for taking goods home.
- Bargaining is common in workshop gift areas; be polite and expect to negotiate on price.
- If you prefer to skip shopping, inform the guide in advance — you may stay with the group without entering the shop.
Depart Cairo — return to Hurghada (transfer)
Depart from Cairo and begin the return journey to Hurghada. The group travels together and participants must return with the group for safety reasons.
Tips from local experts:
- Store any purchases securely for the return transfer and keep essentials (medicine, documents) in your day bag.
- The vehicle is air-conditioned; bring a light layer as temperatures inside vehicles can be cool after a hot day outside.
- Confirm your expected drop-off time with the guide on the return travel so you can plan any onward arrangements.
