Itinerary
Day 1
Meet at Kartzilla Go Kart Base for check-in, safety briefing, costume fitting and a short equipment check. The guided route visits eight Oldtown destinations over 1 hour 40 minutes (100 minutes) including brief photo stops and traffic-aware cruising on public streets.
Meet & check-in — Kartzilla Go Kart Base
Arrival, document check (driver's license / IDP & passport), insurance confirmation, costume fitting and safety briefing at the Kartzilla Go Kart Base before departure.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring the required driving documents listed on your voucher (local driver’s license or 1949 Geneva IDP and passport) — staff will check them at meet-up.
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete registration and costume fitting without delaying departure.
- Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing you can move in; store large bags at the base before boarding the karts.
Tokyo Skytree approach
Drive through streets that frame Tokyo Skytree and capture the tower from nearby streets in the Sumida/Oshiage area. Short photo-stop while following guide instructions.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep helmets and eyewear on while stopped near traffic; use the guide’s instruction for safe photo opportunities.
- Hold phones securely or use a wrist/neck strap — sudden stops on the street can jostle loose items.
- If you want a frontal tower shot, mention it to the guide early so the group can pause at a safe roadside location.
Ryogoku — Sumo Stadium drive-by
Cruise through Ryogoku and pass the Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Stadium and nearby Edo-Tokyo Museum area. Brief stop to view the stadium exterior from a safe roadside position.
Tips from local experts:
- Do not attempt to enter arenas or ticketed areas during the street stop; remain with the guide at the roadside for safety.
- Streets around Ryogoku can be narrow — follow the guide’s instructions and maintain the staggered formation.
- If you plan to visit the museum later, note its opening hours; the tour stop is a short exterior viewing only.
Japanese Sword Museum area
Drive past the neighborhood of the Japanese Sword Museum (Nihon Token Hakubutsukan) and take in streets associated with traditional samurai history.
Tips from local experts:
- This stop is an exterior neighborhood photo opportunity — do not leave the kart area without the guide’s permission.
- Keep copies of travel documents secured at the base; you’ll be moving quickly between short stops.
- If you are interested in the museum itself, plan a separate visit — the tour does not enter exhibit buildings.
Tokyo Station & Marunouchi approach (Imperial Palace visual)
Navigate Marunouchi district to view the historic façade of Tokyo Station and approach the Imperial Palace area for exterior views of Nijubashi and the palace grounds from the street.
Tips from local experts:
- Streets near Tokyo Station are busy with pedestrians; follow the guide’s instructions and yield to crossing pedestrians.
- For palace views, remain on the appointed roadside stops — access to the East Gardens or bridges may require exiting the karts in permitted areas only.
- Keep radio communications on (provided 2-way radios) so the guide can advise on immediate changes in traffic or pedestrian flow.
Akihabara cruise
Drive through Akihabara’s main streets — the tour encourages costume wear and captures the district’s pop-culture energy with short photo opportunities at safe roadside locations.
Tips from local experts:
- Costumes are allowed but must not restrict driving movement — fasten loose parts before riding in traffic.
- Akihabara can be noisy and crowded; the guide will pick safe, less-congested streets where possible for quick photos.
- If you want to stop for a quick snack, inform the guide; food is excluded from the tour but short restroom/snack pauses can be coordinated if time allows.
Ueno district drive
Pass through Ueno — view Ueno Park, museums and the Ameyoko shopping area from the street as part of the Oldtown route.
Tips from local experts:
- Ueno has many narrow streets and occasional market traffic; follow the guide’s pace to avoid congestion.
- If you plan to explore museums or Ueno Park afterward, set aside extra time — this tour offers only an exterior drive-by.
- Keep small valuables zipped and close; busy districts can have crowded sidewalks near stops.
Asakusa & Senso-ji neighborhood
Drive into Asakusa’s old-town streets, approach the Senso-ji Temple area and capture the temple district’s historic atmosphere from the street-level photo points.
Tips from local experts:
- Temples and shrine areas often require removal of helmets if exiting the kart — follow the guide’s instruction and store helmets safely when required.
- Asakusa streets can be busy with tourists; avoid blocking shop fronts and step off the road only in designated stop areas.
- If you wish to enter Senso-ji after the tour, plan for a separate walk — the tour stop is brief and focused on roadside views.
Approach to the Imperial Palace (East Gardens view)
Final street approach offering views toward the Imperial Palace East Gardens and Nijubashi Bridge from nearby ceremonial streets before concluding the tour.
Tips from local experts:
- The Imperial Palace perimeter is strictly controlled — the tour provides exterior viewing from public roads only; follow the guide for lawful stopping points.
- Keep a small bottle of water (provided) and take brief rest as the tour finishes; staff will advise on returning to the base.
- If you wish to visit the East Gardens, plan extra time after the tour — access and opening hours vary seasonally.
