Pickup in Kendwa, then a guided walk through Jozani Forest followed by a visit to a nearby spice plantation. Be ready at your selected pickup location at least 10 minutes before your scheduled pickup time.
Jozani Forest guided walk
A 2-hour guided walk through Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park. Explore tropical forest and mangrove edges, learn about local conservation, and observe the Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys in their natural habitat.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and light long sleeves — trails are uneven and shaded but can have insects.
- Bring insect repellent and a refillable water bottle; there are limited places to buy drinks inside the park.
- Do not feed or touch the Zanzibar Red Colobus; keep a respectful distance (about 2–3 metres) for safe viewing and photos.
Spice plantation visit (Kizimbani / Kati area)
Guided spice-plantation walk (approximately 1 hour 20 minutes on this combined itinerary). See how cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and other spices are grown; taste fresh spices and seasonal fruit while hearing from local farmers about traditional uses.
Tips from local experts:
- Carry small local-currency notes (Tanzanian shillings) for buying fresh spices or small snacks from the farm stalls.
- If you have food allergies, let your guide and the farmer know before tasting — many fresh samples are offered during the walk.
- Wear sun protection and comfortable shoes — plantation paths can be uneven and partly exposed to sun.
