Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day angling access to Lake Langisjór. Permit included for 24 hours from arrival. Start and finish at the Vatnajökull National Park service area (Langisjór campsite) with fishing concentrated around the south peninsula/cabin area; north-shore fishing requires long track driving and hiking.
Meet at Langisjór campsite (Vatnajökull National Park service centre) — check-in and orientation
Arrive at the park service area at the south end of Langisjór to register, use facilities, review camping rules and confirm the 24‑hour fishing permission. Park in the official lot; tenting away from the campsite is prohibited without special permission.

- Bring a printed or digital copy of your booking/permit when you register at the service centre — the permit window is the formal record of your 24‑hour access.
- Use the campsite WC and vehicle parking at the service centre before heading to the fishing spots; facilities are limited beyond the south end.

Fishing around the south peninsula and cabin (permit valid)
Main fishing area is the peninsula where the cabin stands and the south end of Langisjór. The included permission allows angling for 24 hours from arrival. Most fish present are Arctic char. The cabin has basic sleeping-bag accommodation and a gas cooker; it is operated by Hólaskjól Highland Center.

- Keep to the shoreline and known tracks near the cabin; terrain near the water can be rocky and slippery — bring sturdy, non-slip footwear.
- If you need fishing gear, arrange rod rental in advance at Hólaskjól Highland Center — the permit does not include equipment.
- Respect campsite rules: only those renting the cabin may park and tent at the cabin peninsula; other visitors must use the south-end park campsite operated by the national park.
Optional short walk / viewpoint near the southern end (gentle, optional)
Late-afternoon gentle walk options near the south end offer vantage points over the lake and views toward Sveinstindur. Full summit ascents are strenuous and not recommended for those with mobility limits; treat this as an optional, lower-elevation viewpoint stop.
