Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day kayak experience on Komani Lake with a boat approach to the paddling area and extended time exploring toward the Shala River.
Boat Transfer:
Scenic 40-minute boat ride from the Koman ferry terminal to the kayaking launch area on Komani Lake. Enjoy mountain and cliff views on the crossing. Arrival includes short time to disembark and prepare for the safety briefing.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 15 minutes before the 09:40 meeting time at Terminali i Komanit to check in and store small bags on the boat.
- Carry a light dry bag for valuables; phones and cameras can be damp from spray on the transfer.
- Wear layers and a windbreaker — mornings on the lake can be cool even in summer.
Kayaking
Safety briefing and basic paddling instructions followed by self-guided kayaking around Komani Lake with a route that allows paddling toward the Shala River area. Plenty of time built in for stops, swimming and exploring secluded shores. Kayak rental, paddle and life jacket are provided. Pacing is friendly to mixed-ability groups; guides will remain nearby on the water or boat to assist if needed.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a refillable water bottle and snacks in a small waterproof bag — there are no facilities onshore at most stops.
- Wear quick-dry clothing and reef or water shoes for getting on/off kayaks at rocky or sandy beaches.
- Keep electronics in sealed waterproof cases and use a brightness setting for photos — reflections and glare are strong on the lake.
