Itinerary
Day 1
Meet at Mahahual Beach / Costa Maya port area and transfer by taxi to Café Jaguar
Meet at the Mahahual beach/port area listed below. From the Costa Maya Cruise Ship port take a local yellow taxi to Café Jaguar downtown on the Malecón (about a short drive). Use this time to arrive on your own schedule — taxis run a continuous loop between the port and the downtown beach/boardwalk area.
Tips from local experts:
- If the port parking lot has a line, walk to the gates — there are more yellow taxis waiting just outside the port entrance.
- Have your cruise ID or port pass ready for re-entry at the port if you plan to return later.
- Bring swimwear or a towel if you plan to swim after the class; Café Jaguar offers lockers so you can leave belongings securely while you go to the beach.
Café Jaguar — Hands-on Cooking Class (tortillas, tacos al pastor, guacamole, salsas)
Check in at Café Jaguar on the Malecón. Enjoy a welcome beverage and complimentary high-speed Wi‑Fi. This hands-on class teaches you to make tortillas from scratch, prepare guacamole, pico de gallo and salsas, and assemble tacos al pastor (pork with onions and pineapple). After the class you can stay to enjoy the downtown beach and shopping boardwalk or swim steps from the café; return to the port by taxi when you are ready.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in, pick your seat, and enjoy a welcome drink before the workshop begins.
- If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, tell the instructor on arrival so they can suggest alternatives or adjustments.
- Lockers are available at the café if you want to go for a swim after the class; the staff can direct you to the nearest public beach access points on the Malecón.
