Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day plan (morning ride + city lunch). Meet in Málaga, quick nature stop, main off-road ride in Montes de Málaga, return and tapas at Mercado Atarazanas.
Meet & Bike Fitting — MIB movilidad (Little Dragon Bikes meet point)
Arrive at the shop for check-in, safety briefing, helmet fitting and electric fat-bike setup. Guides confirm route and hand out energy bars & water.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early so the guide can adjust the bike and settings for the whole group — saves time later.
- Bring a small daypack and put your valuables in the shop lockers/behind-the-counter storage (ask staff) — phones and keys stay safe while you ride.
- Charge your phone beforehand — guides can take group photos but battery-sharing is rare; ask to snap a few social pics before you leave.
Transfer: Short drive to Paraje Natural Desembocadura del Guadalhorce (birdwatching stop)
Quick scenic transfer west of the city to the Guadalhorce river mouth for a 20–30 minute birdwatch and photo stop — flamingos and waders are commonly seen in spring.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask the guide for the best angle to photograph birds — they know the local hides and arrival spots.
- Bring a light windbreaker — the coast can be breezy even on warm spring days, and birds cluster on mudflats near the path.
- This is a quick stop — use binoculars if you have them; if not, the guide usually points out the species and best photo frames.
Transfer to Montes de Málaga (trailhead)
Scenic drive inland into the Montes de Málaga natural park — short transfer to the trailhead where the off-road section begins. Use this time to listen to the guide's route notes and safety reminders.
Tips from local experts:
- Use the transfer time to rehydrate and tighten helmets — the guide will do a final quick check at the trailhead.
- If anyone in your group feels unsure about a technical section, tell the guide now — routes can be adapted to keep the group together.
- Keep light layers handy; temperatures rise as you descend into valleys and drop on shaded forest singletrack.
OFF-ROAD Electric FAT Bike Adventure — Montes de Málaga (guided)
Main guided ride: 3 hours 30 minutes of off-road fun on electric fat bikes. Expect forest trails, panoramic viewpoints, small lakes/streams, mixed rocky and singletrack sections. Guides share local ecology and stories as you ride.
Tips from local experts:
- Pace yourself — the e-assist helps, but keep cadence steady on climbs to conserve battery for technical sections and photo stops.
- Share the fun: swap helmet-cam or phone shots among friends at viewpoints — the guide will pause at the best spots for group photos.
- Keep pockets lightly packed: energy bars and water are provided, but stow sunscreen, sunglasses, and any motion-sickness meds in an accessible pocket.
Return transfer to Málaga city centre
Drive back to central Málaga to drop bikes at the shop. Use the ride-back to swap stories and shower / freshen up if needed.
Tips from local experts:
- Plan a quick change of top before heading into the market — a fresh shirt and sunglasses make tapas photos look great.
- Ask the guide for a recommended place to store helmets/bikes while you eat — the shop often offers short-term storage.
- If anyone wants to extend the ride or rent for longer, ask before you leave — availability can be limited on busy days.
Tapas & celebration — Mercado Central de Atarazanas
Finish with lively tapas at Málaga's Atarazanas food market: choose small plates, share local wines or cold beer, and compare ride photos. Great spot for groups and friendly staff.
Tips from local experts:
- Go straight to the stands with local specialties (boquerones, gambas pil pil, jamón) and order several small plates to share — great for groups.
- Ask vendors for local craft beer or a glass of Málaga wine for a proper celebration — most stalls are used to groups and will pull up extra stools.
- Look for seats at the higher counters if you’re a group of friends — they’re easier to share and offer better people-watching for post-ride banter.
