Itinerary
Day 1
Evening rooftop asado experience on the host terrace in Guaymallén, Mendoza. Meet at the address and spend four relaxed hours cooking, tasting, and socializing.
Meet host at the rooftop terrace (arrival & welcome)
Arrive at the meeting address, climb two flights of stairs to the rooftop terrace, get a welcome drink and a short introduction to the evening. The host will show the rooftop view and safety around the grill.
Tips from local experts:
- The terrace requires climbing two flights of stairs—bring light luggage and note this activity is not wheelchair accessible.
- Evening temperatures in Mendoza can drop after sunset; bring a light jacket for comfort on the rooftop.
- Share this exact address with your driver: Av. Ejército de los Andes 346, Guaymallén, Mendoza to avoid confusion.
Empanada-making demonstration & prep
Hands-on empanada workshop: the host demonstrates dough shaping and filling, then guests help assemble empanadas while enjoying a glass of wine. This is an informal, social segment designed for couples to cook together.
Tips from local experts:
- If you have dietary needs, notify the host in advance; a vegetarian option is available on request.
- Wear comfortable, easy-to-clean clothes—you'll handle dough and fillings during the session.
- Bring a small bag for any leftovers; hosts often allow guests to take uneaten empanadas.
Asado grilling: host demo & guest participation
Watch and participate in the traditional Argentine asado using wood-fired grilling. The host will explain cuts and grilling techniques while preparing chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), matambre and beef. Guests can assist with simple tasks under supervision.
Tips from local experts:
- The grill uses wood smoke—if you are sensitive, mention this to the host so they can seat you slightly upwind.
- Avoid wearing strong perfumes; the aroma of the grill and wines is part of the shared experience.
- Take photos early in the grilling process—lighting on the terrace changes after sunset and the view is best at the start.
Shared dinner with wine tasting
Sit together on the rooftop to taste a selection of local Mendoza wines paired with the freshly grilled meats, bread and sauces. The host will guide tasting notes and pairings in a relaxed, conversational setting.
Tips from local experts:
- If you prefer less alcohol, ask the host for smaller pours—water and beer are also provided.
- For a romantic moment, request a window seat on the edge of the terrace to enjoy the city view during the meal.
- Pace yourself through the shared plates—multiple courses are served family-style to encourage shared tasting.
Dessert, final toast with Fernet & Coke and social time
Finish the evening with dessert, a final toast featuring Fernet & Coke, and relaxed conversation. This is an unstructured wind-down period to exchange stories and take in the rooftop view before departure.
Tips from local experts:
- The final toast is a local tradition—if you do not drink alcohol, the host will offer a soft drink alternative.
- Plan your return: taxis and rideshare pick-ups are easiest from Av. Ejército de los Andes; allow a few extra minutes for pickup downstairs.
- If you'd like to stay longer, ask the host—they may be able to extend the social time depending on schedules.
