Itinerary
Day 1
Full day: meet in Naples port, visit Pompeii with certified guide, relaxed lunch in Sorrento, scenic stop in Positano, return to Naples (total ~8 hours). The schedule is paced for comfort with short transfers and regular rest opportunities.
Meet & board at Stazione Marittima (Naples port)
Arrive at the Stazione Marittima cruise/port terminal and meet the driver. Boarding, name check and brief orientation. Staff will assist guests with mobility needs before departure.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10 minutes early — the meeting point is level and right inside the Stazione Marittima terminal with benches and public restrooms close by.
- If you use a wheelchair or walking aid, notify the driver on arrival so they can load you first and place you in an accessible seat near the door.
- Keep a small day bag with medications and ID in the cabin (the driver will remind you) — restrooms may be bus-level before the first stop.
Drive: Naples → Pompeii (comfortable, air‑conditioned minivan)
Relaxed scenic transfer from Naples port toward the Pompeii archaeological site. The driver will provide on‑board commentary and a short comfort stop if needed.
Tips from local experts:
- Take a seat near the aisle for easy access — the minivan is climate controlled and makes a short comfort stop on request.
- If you are sensitive to motion, keep a window shade open and consider motion‑sickness medication before departure (driver can stop if needed).
- Bottled water is provided on board — sip regularly in spring sunshine to stay hydrated.
Guided visit: Parco Archeologico di Pompei (Porta Marina entrance) — certified local guide
Two‑hour guided tour focused on the highlights (Forum, House of the Vettii, Villa dei Misteri) with an accessibility‑aware route from the Porta Marina entrance. Guide will prioritise low‑step routes and seating breaks.
Tips from local experts:
- Enter via the Porta Marina access: it has the most level approach and fewer steep staircases than some other gates — request this entrance when you book.
- Pompeii has uneven cobbles; wear supportive walking shoes and use the frequent shaded benches for rests — guide will schedule short sitting breaks every 20–30 minutes.
- If you require a wheelchair, ask the lead to reserve a site mobility aid in advance; the guide can shorten the route to reduce walking while still showing the major highlights.
Transfer: Pompeii → Sorrento (short scenic drive)
Comfortable drive down the Sorrento peninsula toward Piazza Tasso in the town centre — drop‑off near flat areas of the square to minimise stairs.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask to be dropped as close to Piazza Tasso as possible — the driver can usually stop at a flatter area to avoid steep steps.
- Windows offer views of the Bay of Naples; keep your camera to hand but remain seated for safety on winding sections.
- There will be a restroom and short stretch opportunity on arrival in Sorrento before the walking portion of the stop.
Lunch & gentle stroll: O'Parrucchiano La Favorita / Piazza Tasso, Sorrento
Restful lunch at a long‑established Sorrento restaurant (or a similar accessible venue) followed by a short, flat stroll along Corso Italia and the Piazza Tasso area for some light shopping and lemon‑tree views.
Tips from local experts:
- Request a quiet table near ground level and an aisle seat when booking — many restaurants in Sorrento have steps, but O'Parrucchiano has accessible seating options.
- Try a small limoncello tasting after the meal — it’s a local speciality; ask the waiter to serve it slowly and in a small glass.
- Stay near the Piazza Tasso area for flat walking and benches; avoid steep alleyways and large staircases — ask the driver or guide for a short map with nearest toilets.
Transfer: Sorrento → Positano (coastal drive)
Scenic coastal drive along the Amalfi/Positano road with one gentle photo stop at a safe viewpoint if the group agrees.
Tips from local experts:
- Seatbelt on for the winding coastal sections; if you prefer less motion, sit facing forward and close your eyes during the hairpin bends.
- Ask the driver for a quick photo stop at a safe pull‑out — it’s an easy way to get great views without long walks.
- If you have mobility concerns, tell the guide so the driver can arrange a drop‑off at the main square/level areas of Positano rather than the lower beach access.
Positano visit: Church of Santa Maria Assunta & panoramic promenade
One hour to enjoy Positano's principal sights at a relaxed pace: view the tiled dome of Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, sit at a café with a sea view, and take photos from the main promenade — avoid long stair descents.
Tips from local experts:
- Stick to the Piazza/Chiesa area and the main promenade (level stretches) to avoid Positano’s steep staircases — ask the guide to show a short step‑free route.
- Choose a café terrace with shaded seating for views — ask for a low table and extra time so you can enjoy the view without hurrying.
- If you want a beach glance, stay at the Spiaggia Grande promenade rather than descending the steps — it gives the view without the climb back up.
Return transfer: Positano → Naples (drop-off at Stazione Marittima)
Comfortable drive back to Naples with an expected arrival at the Stazione Marittima. Driver can assist with luggage and arranging taxis if you are continuing on separately.
Tips from local experts:
- Have any items you need for immediate use (meds, jacket) in a small bag — the driver will stow larger luggage and retrieve it at drop‑off.
- If you are staying elsewhere in Naples, tell the driver in advance and they will advise best drop‑off options (some hotels are easier by taxi than by the port terminal).
- Expect to arrive around 16:00; restrooms and seating are available at the Stazione Marittima — plan onward transport with about 20 minutes of buffer time.
