Itinerary
Day 1
Meet in Naxos town and follow a guided route through Halki, Kaloxilos and Apiranthos with focused tastings and short village strolls. Total tour time is approximately 4 hours including group van transfers between stops.
Meet at Street Cafe Bus Stop (Naxos) & depart
Group assembly and quick briefing at the designated meeting point. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow an on-time departure.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes before the 09:00 start to check in with the guide at the meeting point.
- Keep a small day bag with water, sunglasses and a light jacket; mornings can be breezy in spring.
- If you need assistance finding the meeting point, ask at nearby Street Café in Naxos town (meeting point name appears on your voucher).
Halki Village - Kitron Distillery
Guided stop in Halki with a visit to the island’s kitron distillery and a tasting of the traditional liqueur, followed by a short walk through the village streets.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable, flat shoes for short cobbled-street walking in Halki.
- Kitron is aromatic; if you have fragrance sensitivities, step outside the tasting area when samples are served.
- Bring a small camera for photos of the neoclassical buildings and narrow streets; spaces are compact so keep gear minimal.
Transfer Halki → Kaloxilos
Short van transfer through inland Naxos to the olive-producing area near Kaloxilos.
Tips from local experts:
- Use the transfer time to ask the guide questions about local olive oil styles and production methods.
- Keep any purchased kitron or fragile items secured for the short drive.
- If you need a restroom break, mention it to the guide before departing Halki.
Kaloxilos Village - Olive Oil Tasting
Visit a family-owned olive press area for a guided tasting of premium Naxian olive oils and local delicacies inspired by olive production.
Tips from local experts:
- Taste plain bread with a small amount of oil first to evaluate flavour; ask the host for recommended pairings.
- If you have olive allergies, notify the guide before the tasting begins so alternatives can be arranged.
- Bring a small resealable bag or container if you plan to purchase bottles; vendors may also offer lightweight packaging.
Transfer Kaloxilos → Apiranthos
Scenic drive ascending toward the mountain village of Apiranthos (the marble village). Short comfort stop possible on request.
Tips from local experts:
- Apiranthos has steps and slopes; if mobility is limited, notify the guide so walking can be kept to a minimum.
- Carry a light layer — mountain villages can be cooler than the coast even in May.
- If you prefer to skip part of the walk, tell the guide; most tastings are accessible from central village streets.
Apiranthos Village - Cheese Tasting
Guided stroll through Apiranthos followed by a tasting of local cheeses and zamboni (Naxian cured meat) in a family taverna setting.
Tips from local experts:
- Apiranthos’ streets can be narrow and stepped; choose comfortable footwear and take care on uneven surfaces.
- If you have dietary restrictions (e.g., vegetarian, pork-free), inform the guide before the tasting so alternative plate options can be offered.
- Allow time after the tasting for a relaxed stroll and photos; small artisan shops may have locally made cheese or preserves for purchase.
Return transfer to Naxos meeting point & tour close
Van transfer back to the original meeting point in Naxos town. Tour concludes at the meeting location.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect to arrive back in Naxos town around the scheduled finish time; keep personal items with you during disembarkation.
- If you need onward transport to your accommodation, ask the guide for a recommended local taxi or directions.
- Collect any purchases (bottles, cheeses) from the guide’s storage area if left there temporarily for the return ride.
