Itinerary
Day 1
Private car pickup from New Delhi early morning; full-day round trip to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort; return to New Delhi for overnight in a 3-star hotel.
Private transfer: New Delhi → Agra → New Delhi (Taj Mahal & Agra Fort)
Pickup from your hotel or suggested pickup point in New Delhi. Drive to Agra by private, air‑conditioned car. Visit the Taj Mahal (morning visit recommended for softer light and cooler temperatures) and Agra Fort with a local English‑speaking driver; time allocated includes site visits, short breaks and a lunch stop in Agra (lunch is not included). After sightseeing, drive back to New Delhi and drop off at your hotel.
Tips from local experts:
- Carry a printed or digital copy of any identification required for ticket purchase on site; Taj Mahal entry lines ask for ID verification.
- Wear comfortable, slip-on shoes; both monuments include areas where footwear must be removed or where there are many steps.
- Bring bottled water and a light hat; mid‑day in November can still be sunny—take short rest breaks between sites.
Overnight: 3-star hotel in New Delhi (double/twin room)
Check-in and overnight rest in New Delhi at a 3-star category hotel (standard double/twin room on double occupancy). Evening at leisure; staff will reconfirm next-day train pickup and station transfer time.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm wake-up and train transfer time with reception the night before; hotel pickups typically start 30–60 minutes before the scheduled transfer.
- Request a ground-floor or elevator-access room if stairs are difficult; specify mobility needs at reconfirmation.
- Keep essential items for the next day (medication, travel documents, small bag) separate for easier morning collection.
Day 2
Morning transfer to New Delhi railway station and travel by air‑conditioned superfast train to Amritsar. Afternoon arrival, hotel check-in and visit to Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). Overnight in Amritsar.
Transfer to New Delhi Railway Station & train to Amritsar (AC class)
Morning hotel pickup for transfer to New Delhi Railway Station to board the scheduled air‑conditioned superfast train to Amritsar. The driver will drop you at the station and assist with boarding. On arrival in Amritsar you will be met and transferred to your Amritsar 3-star hotel for check-in and a short rest.
Tips from local experts:
- Have original photo ID and printed or digital train tickets ready at hotel checkout; stations require ID for boarding.
- Allow extra time for station security screening and platform walking; request assistance at the station if mobility help is needed.
- Keep a small day bag with essential medications, water and a light sweater—the AC on trains can be cool.
Visit: Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar
Afternoon visit to the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). Time to walk the parikrama (outer walkway), observe the langar (community kitchen) and spend quiet time in the complex. The visit is guided by the local driver or guide for orientation; please follow local customs and the temple's dress and head-covering requirements.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a clean scarf or head covering; head coverings are mandatory for everyone inside the Golden Temple complex—scarves are available locally if needed.
- Footwear must be removed before entering temple precincts; use the designated shoe lockers and keep small change for locker attendants.
- There are benches and shaded areas for rest; avoid long standing periods and use the water points to freshen up after the train journey.
Overnight: 3-star hotel in Amritsar (double/twin room)
Evening check-in and overnight at a selected 3-star hotel in Amritsar. Evening at leisure after the day's travel and visits.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm pick-up time for the Wagah Border transfer with hotel reception the night before.
- Ask the hotel staff about quieter room options away from main roads if sensitivity to noise is a concern.
- Keep one set of clothes handy for the Wagah Border visit (light layers); evening temperatures can drop after sunset.
Day 3
Checkout and morning at leisure in Amritsar. Afternoon transfer to Wagah Border for the flag-lowering ceremony, then return to Amritsar for evening transfer to the railway station to board the scheduled superfast train back to Delhi. Drop-off at Delhi per the schedule (timing of final arrival depends on selected train).
Morning: Leisure time and checkout in Amritsar
Breakfast and time to rest or do light local shopping near the hotel. Staff will reconfirm the Wagah transfer and train departure later that day. Check out of the hotel mid-afternoon as per the day's plan.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep luggage available at reception for a timely checkout and transfer to Wagah; ask staff to store any items you won't need for the ceremony.
- Use the morning to purchase bottled water and a small snack for the afternoon—food at the border is limited and often basic.
- If you have mobility concerns, request vehicle assistance to minimize walking between hotel and car pickup.
Wagah Border: Beating Retreat / flag-lowering ceremony and return transfer
Private car transfer to the Wagah Border (Attari–Wagah). Arrive with time to be seated before the border ceremony (the ceremony time varies seasonally). Observe the Beating Retreat / lowering of the flags ceremony performed by the border forces of India and Pakistan. After the ceremony, return to Amritsar; later transfer to Amritsar railway station for the scheduled superfast train to New Delhi (evening departure). Note: exact train departure and arrival times will be confirmed on reconfirmation.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a small warm layer for the evening ceremony; temperatures at the border are often cooler and seating is typically uncovered.
- Carry a printed copy of your train ticket and ID; you will need them at the station for boarding after the ceremony.
- Seating at the Wagah viewing areas can be stepped or tiered—if you need nearer-to-ground seating or assistance, request it on reconfirmation so the driver can arrive earlier.
