Itinerary
Day 1
Private 2.5-hour dogsled experience starting from the handler base at Stensjökullen in Blåsmark. Timings below follow the Morning Tour (start 10:00); other start times use the same sequence shifted to the booked departure.
Meet the dogs
When you first arrive, you'll get to meet our team of dogs and learn about dogsledding.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start to park and be fitted with any hired outerwear.
- Bring warm base layers and insulated boots; coats and snow pants are available to hire on site if needed.
- Keep loose scarves and dangling items secured—dogs are curious and handlers will advise where to store belongings.
Tour begins!
After learning about dogsledding, we'll head out onto the trail.
Tips from local experts:
- Use a wrist strap or neck strap for your camera or phone to avoid dropping devices in snow.
- Tuck long scarves and loose items inside your jacket; follow the handler's instructions for braking and steering.
- Wear sunglasses for glare off the snow — bright conditions can be surprising even on overcast days.
Stop to refuel
About halfway through the tour we'll stop by a fire pit to grill some food and drink hot cocoa or coffee.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect a 20–30 minute break by the fire pit; bring any personal snacks needed for specific dietary requirements.
- Metal cups and simple utensils are typically used at the fire; use gloves when handling hot items.
- There are no formal restrooms at the fire-pit stop—use facilities at the meeting point before departure.
Tour continues
After stopping, we'll continue our journey through the forest. This is also a great opportunity for guests to switch drivers.
Tips from local experts:
- If you plan to switch drivers, watch the handler demonstration and only switch at a designated safe spot.
- Cold drains phone batteries quickly—keep devices in an inside pocket close to your body when not in use.
- Respect the dogs' needs: handlers will indicate when petting is appropriate to ensure the team remains rested and safe.
