Itinerary
Day 1
Pickup before the 15:00 activity start; the 4-hour experience runs 15:00–19:00 local time. The driver/guide will meet you in the main lobby of your hotel with a sign that reads the client name or 'Dominican Pride Travel'.
Hotel pickup (representative / lobby meeting)
Private pickup from your Punta Cana hotel lobby. Driver will confirm names and final waivers, hand out a printed voucher if needed and introduce your guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Have one photo of your booking confirmation ready on your phone — it speeds check-in.
- Ask the driver to take a quick hotel-lobby photo of you two before departure for a romantic memory.
- If you prefer a different pickup landmark (main entrance vs. lobby), message the operator beforehand — they adapt pickup to most major resorts.
Transfer to buggy base & safety briefing
Short private drive to the buggy meeting point. Your guide will run a safety briefing, confirm vehicle assignment (single or tandem buggy), and issue helmets and goggles.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear a light layer over swimwear — it protects against dust and you can remove it at the beach.
- Ask for a tandem option if you prefer your partner as a passenger for a shared experience.
- Keep small valuables in the provided dry bag — guides usually carry a lockbox but nothing beats a secured bag.
Buggy orientation & gear up
Hands-on orientation: how to operate the buggy, follow the guide, and pass safe overtaking / convoy signals. Quick test drive on a private trail before hitting open countryside.
Tips from local experts:
- Tell your guide if either of you is new to driving ATVs — they'll give a slower demo and pair you with an instructor if needed.
- Bring sunglasses with straps or use the supplied goggles — wind can irritate eyes even on short runs.
- Practice a couple of slow-turn maneuvers during the test run so you both feel comfortable before full-speed sections.
Off-road drive through countryside toward Scape Park / Hoyo Azul
Adrenaline-filled off-road section across dirt trails, farmland and coastal scrub — perfect photo ops and open-vehicle romance. Guided pace with occasional stops for photos.

- Tuesday12:00 AM – 11:59 PM

- Friday12:00 AM – 11:59 PM
- Saturday12:00 AM – 11:59 PM
- Sunday12:00 AM – 11:59 PM
Tips from local experts:
- Sit together on a tandem buggy for a more intimate ride (available on request) and better photo angles of each other.
- Ask your guide for the quietest side of the buggy when stopping for photos — they know which views are less trafficked.
- Keep your phone in a secure pocket or dry bag; request the guide to take a few couple shots from safe spots with their camera/phone.
Quick local chocolate tasting (organic)
Short, romantic tasting of Dominican chocolate and cocoa nibs — a local-flavours stop to pair with fresh fruit juices (non-alcoholic refreshment included).

Tips from local experts:
- Ask for two portions so you can taste slowly together — it’s a lovely palate-connection before the cenote swim.
- If either of you has allergies, confirm ingredients first — Dominican chocolate often includes nuts.
- Tip: request a take-home sample pack (many couples enjoy a small souvenir to remember the day).
Hoyo Azul (Scape Park) — cenote swim & Taino cave viewpoint
Arrive at Scape Park for a swim at the emerald Hoyo Azul cenote and time to explore a nearby Taino cave viewpoint. Super-clear water ideal for photos and a cooling swim.

- Friday9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Saturday9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Sunday9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Tips from local experts:
- Wear biodegradable sunblock — Scape Park asks guests to protect the ecosystem in and around Hoyo Azul.
- Bring water shoes or grippy sandals for the steps leading to the cenote — they make entry and exits more comfortable.
- Ask your guide for a quieter corner of the cenote for a private couple photo; early evening tends to be less crowded on private tours.
Playa Macao — private sunset picnic & swim (special moment)
Drive to Playa Macao for golden-hour relaxation: soft sand, turquoise sea, and a curated picnic with local fruits and refreshments. Enjoy an intimate sunset moment framed by dramatic coastal views.
Tips from local experts:
- Request the picnic setup in advance (flowers or a special note) for a romantic surprise — the team can often arrange small upgrades.
- Golden hour here is magical — position yourselves facing west for the best couple photos and softer light.
- Watch the surf: Playa Macao has strong waves at times. Stay in the shallow swimming area recommended by your guide for a safer, cozier swim.
Return drive and drop-off at your hotel
Backtrack by buggy/vehicle to the meeting point, return gear, and private transfer back to your hotel lobby where the tour ends.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask your guide for recommended quieter romantic restaurants nearby for dinner — they often know the best low-key spots.
- If you loved any photos the guide took, request digital copies before departure — many guides will share them.
- Keep a small tip ready for the guide/driver (local custom) if the day felt personal and special — they appreciate the gesture.

Why this experience
You and your partner are climbing into a rugged off-road buggy together—literally side by side—about to spend a half-day exploring Punta Cana's backcountry in a way that only a couple can: as a team, moving at your pace, and sharing the same small space through mud, trails, and discovery. The route is deliberate: you'll tear through scenic trails that feel wild but are well-established, navigate around dense vegetation, and arrive at a hidden cenote where you both slip into cool, crystalline water and float quietly for a few minutes—just the two of you, no tour bus in sight. Then the buggy carries you to Playa Macao, where you can walk the beach, feel the Caribbean breeze, and grab a local tasting—fresh tropical fruit, maybe a simple bite prepared by someone who knows the island.
What makes this couple-centric isn't just the physical proximity. It's the rhythm: you're not following a large group or waiting for anyone else's pace. The guide is there for safety and navigation, but the day unfolds between you two. The cenote dip is intimate because there's no crowd. The beach stop is unhurried because you're not on a schedule dictated by 30 people.
Best for couples seeking adventure without performance, who want to explore together, and who enjoy the balance of active motion and quiet moments.
Before you go
- Best time: Dry season (December through April). Rain makes trails muddy (fun) but also slippery and harder to navigate; dry season offers better visibility and firmer ground. Avoid the heaviest rain months (September–November).
- Budget: Check the booking widget for current tour pricing. Buggy rental, guide, and the cenote/beach stops are included; a local tasting may incur a small additional cost.
- Difficulty: Moderate. Buggy riding is physical but not strenuous—you're gripping handles through bumps and turns, but no climbing or swimming expertise is needed. The cenote swim is in calm, shallow water.
- What to bring: Swimsuit, water shoes or closed-toe sandals, light layers for sun and wind, sunscreen, sunglasses, small towel, secure bag for valuables, insect repellent.
- Getting there: Hotel pickup typically included. You'll be transported to the buggy station where you'll be briefed and outfitted before departure. Confirm the exact pickup time when you book.
- Accessibility: Buggy riding requires mobility and ability to hold on; not suitable for severe mobility limitations. Inform the operator of any health concerns—the bumpy terrain may be uncomfortable for people with back or joint issues.
Frequently asked questions
Who drives the buggy—us or a guide? Typically the guide drives while you both ride as passengers, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and each other's company without focusing on navigation. Some operators offer the option to drive; confirm at booking if you prefer that.
Is the cenote very deep? No. The cenote stop is usually in shallow, calm water (waist to chest deep for most) where you can wade and float. It's safe for non-strong swimmers.
What's the pace like? Will it feel too touristy? Half-day trips are designed to feel exploratory without being rushed. You'll have time at each stop, and the guide focuses on showing you the landscape rather than managing a large group.
