Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day scenic coach tour from Sirmione into the Dolomites (UNESCO). Start at the agreed pick-up point in Sirmione, travel north with guided commentary, visit mountain towns and viewpoints, lunch at Passo Pordoi and a visit to Ortisei. Return to Sirmione in the evening.
Meet & Board — Ristorante Erica, Sirmione (pickup)
Meet your guide and group at the meeting point in Sirmione. Check-in, quick briefing & boarding of the air-conditioned coach. Please arrive 5–10 minutes before the pickup time shown on your voucher.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive a few minutes early and ask your guide for a recommended seat with the best left-/right-side views depending on weather (they'll advise on which side has the best scenery).
- Bring a lightweight wrap — mornings at 06:25 can be cool near the lake even in September; layers photograph well and are easy to remove.
- Keep your camera or phone charged and readily accessible; the coach will depart promptly and the first scenic stops begin soon after boarding.
Morning immersion: Moena pass-by & Lago di Soraga photo stop
Scenic coach drive into the Dolomites with live commentary. We’ll pass through classic mountain towns such as Moena/Cavalese and stop for photos and a short lakeside moment at Lago di Soraga.
Tips from local experts:
- For a romantic photo, step down to the lakeshore at Lago di Soraga — aim for a tight, low-angle shot with the peaks behind you for dramatic couple portraits.
- Use the short stop in Moena to pick up a local pastry or hot drink from a town bakery — perfect to share while strolling (cash accepted in many small shops).
- If either of you gets cold quickly, keep your jackets accessible on the coach; mountain microclimates mean sunlit valleys can still be cool in September.
Scenic transfer to Passo Pordoi (coach)
Relaxed drive up toward the Pordoi alpine pass — enjoy panoramic views from the coach and guided narration about the Dolomites’ geology and history.
Tips from local experts:
- Sit on the side of the coach recommended by your guide for the best views en route; they’ll often announce which side has the best outlook for Marmolada/Sella.
- Keep a small bottle of water and some snacks handy — the coach ride between stops can be 1–2 hours and gives you time to savor the views together.
- Ask your guide about quick local traditions or folklore tied to the passes — a short story can make the moment feel more intimate.
Passo Pordoi — Panoramic lunch, photos & optional cable car to Sass Pordoi
Arrive at Passo Pordoi (2,239 m) for a relaxed lunch break and sweeping views of Marmolada, Sella and Catinaccio. Restaurants and terraces available on-site. Optional cable car to the Sass Pordoi summit (extra fee ~28€; cash often accepted).
Tips from local experts:
- Book a table on the terrace if available — the midday light on the peaks is ideal for romantic photos and a quiet, panoramic lunch.
- If you plan to take the Sass Pordoi cable car, bring cash and a light windproof layer; summit winds can be chilly even after a sunny lunch.
- Order a shared dessert or local apple strudel to enjoy together — many mountain rifugi offer heart-warming portions and alpine cheeses for two.
Afternoon transfer toward Ortisei (coach)
Gentle coach descent and scenic drive toward Val Gardena and the village of Ortisei. Time to relax on board and enjoy late-afternoon light over the peaks.
Tips from local experts:
- The afternoon light warms up the valley tones — ask the driver/guide where the best quick photo pull-off is for an intimate sunset-style shot later in the day.
- This is a good time to sync photos and pick favorites while the views are fresh — it’s easier than sorting them after the return journey.
- If you prefer a quieter moment, request a seat away from the group conversation area — the coach usually has quieter corners for two.
Ortisei — Stroll, wood-carvings & cozy café moment
Short walking visit in Ortisei (Urtijëi), famous for its carved-wood tradition and charming pedestrian streets. Time to browse artisan workshops, pick a souvenir and warm up with a café or hot chocolate.
Tips from local experts:
- Seek out a small wood-carving workshop and ask the artisan about the story behind a piece — many shops will happily pose for a photo with you and the item.
- Stop at a tucked-away café for a shared hot chocolate or vin brulé (if available) and pick a window seat for people-watching together.
- Watch walking surfaces and choose shoes with good grip; Ortisei streets are charming but can have uneven cobbles — comfortable soles keep the stroll relaxed.
Return coach ride — Relax and return to Sirmione (drop-off)
Comfortable coach transfer back toward Lake Garda. The guide will recap the day and point out highlights on the return route before drop-off at the original meeting point in Sirmione.
Tips from local experts:
- Use the return trip to rest and share favorite photos from the day — many couples make a short slideshow on their phone for the ride home.
- If you’d like a quieter drop-off, tell the guide in advance; they can often arrange to let you off slightly earlier/later within the scheduled route (subject to logistics).
- Keep a small souvenir or snack purchased in Ortisei handy — finishing the day with a bite from a local bakery back on the lake is very romantic.
