Itinerary
Day 1
Meet in Smolyan for check-in and equipment, then a guided 1-hour horseback ride visiting the Waterfalls Canyon eco-path and riding through the Pamporovo area with views over Smolyan.
Waterfalls Canyon
Meet at the listed meeting point in Smolyan for check-in, equipment fitting and a short safety briefing before mounting. This first segment covers arrival, briefing and mounting prior to the main trail.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes before the scheduled start to complete check-in and equipment fitting.
- Wear closed-toe shoes or light boots and long trousers to avoid rubbing while riding.
- Carry ID and any relevant medical information; inform the guide of pregnancy or recent injuries before mounting.
Pamporovo
Main riding segment through the Pamporovo sector of the Rhodope Mountains, following the eco-path toward the Waterfalls Canyon viewpoint. Guided pacing and short stops for photos are included during the trail.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a lightweight outer layer; mountain conditions can change quickly even in summer.
- Keep movements slow and follow the guide's instructions for mounting, dismounting and pace changes.
- If you prefer photos of both riders together, tell the guide early so they can pause at a scenic spot.
Smolyan
Final short segment returning toward the meeting point with time allotted for dismounting, horse handover and photographer-provided photos. This closing section gives final views of Smolyan and completes the guided hour.
Tips from local experts:
- Allow time at the end for shoe/boot removal if they got dusty or muddy during the ride.
- Collect any personal photos the guide saved; ask where and how the guide will share your ride photos before you leave.
- If you need a taxi after the activity, plan for a short wait—there is limited public transport immediately nearby.
