Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day private tour: pickup in Ubud, drive to Kintamani for coffee tasting and trekking, purification ceremony and meeting with a local priest in Tampaksiring, village lunch, then return to Ubud with temple stops.
Hotel pickup, drive to Kintamani; coffee tasting & guided trek through bamboo forest and rice terraces
After pickup from your Ubud hotel we drive toward Kintamani. En route we stop at a local coffee plantation for a free coffee tasting and small breakfast. From there the guided trek starts: walking through bamboo-lined paths, jungle-like sections, village lanes and rice terraces while your guide explains local history, culture and Balinese Hindu beliefs.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip — sections can be uneven and muddy after rain.
- Bring a small daypack with sun protection, a light rain jacket, and a refillable water bottle (bottled water is provided).
- Leave bulky valuables at the hotel or in the vehicle; pockets or a small secure pouch are best for cameras/phones during the trek.
Private water purification (Melukat) at a Tampaksiring temple
At a sacred Tampaksiring temple you will take part in a traditional Melukat purification ritual, dressing in the provided sarong and using flowing spring water to perform cleansing prayers as guided by the temple attendants and your guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear modest clothing and use the sarong and towel provided for the ritual; shoulders should be covered while approaching the temple.
- Bring a small amount of cash for the customary temple donation or offerings (donations are excluded from the tour price).
- Keep electronics and valuables dry — a small waterproof pouch is handy. Follow your guide’s instructions for queuing the water springs to avoid interrupting local worshippers.
Visit with local priest / healer and village lunch
After the purification you will meet a local priest/healer for a brief spiritual consultation and traditional blessings. We then stop at a nearby village eatery for a relaxed lunch where you can learn more about local life and chat with residents.
Tips from local experts:
- Be respectful of personal questions during the priest’s consultation; allow the healer to lead the interaction and ask questions only when invited.
- If you have dietary restrictions, inform your guide before lunch so the village eatery can adapt simple dishes where possible.
- Carry small change for local purchases or gratitude to hosts; receipts are uncommon at village restaurants.
Visit additional local temples and secret spots en route to Ubud
On the return toward Ubud we make a few short stops at nearby temples and scenic local viewpoints described by your guide as 'secret spots' to experience quieter corners of Balinese village life and take photos.
Tips from local experts:
- Follow your guide’s directions at temple grounds — remove hats and keep voices low when others are praying.
- Carry a portable umbrella or sunhat; some temple approaches have little shade during midday.
- Use the restroom during longer stops at restaurants or main temples — smaller 'secret' viewpoints may not have facilities.
Return to Ubud and drop-off at hotel
Private transfer back to your accommodation in Ubud. Tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your preferred drop-off point in Ubud with the guide at the start of the day to avoid delays.
- If you’d like a copy of any photos the guide took, ask before disembarking — file transfer options vary by device.
- If you need onward transport or suggestions in Ubud, ask the guide during drop-off; they can recommend nearby quiet dining or relaxing spots.
