Itinerary
Day 1
90-minute private photoshoot for couples — meeting point in front of Gran Caffè Quadri. Includes staged portraits at Piazza San Marco, Doge's Palace exterior shots, Bridge of Sighs frames and a short private gondola segment. Photographer provides posing guidance and handover of next steps at the end.
Meet your photographer — in front of Gran Caffè Quadri, Piazza San Marco
Quick introductions, confirm wardrobe/poses, and a 5-minute briefing on the shoot plan. Photographer will confirm exact route and any last-minute preferences.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 3–5 minutes early so the session can start promptly (crowds can form fast in the square).
- Wear comfortable shoes for short walks between spots; you can change shoes quickly if you brought a second pair.
- If you have a small sentimental prop (flower, scarf, ring), show it to the photographer now so they plan shots around it.
Piazza San Marco — staged & candid portraits
20 minutes of editorial-style and candid portraits framed by St. Mark's Square: columns, the basilica façades and the open square give dramatic, timeless backgrounds.
Tips from local experts:
- Closest to sunrise/morning the square is quieter — position yourselves near the Basilica’s colonnades for soft, flattering shade.
- Coordinate one outfit with a pop of color for a bold portrait, and one softer look for classic, romantic photos.
- Watch for pigeons — these can add charm but can also distract; follow the photographer’s cue to stay relaxed and natural.
Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace) — exterior frames & intimate angles
15 minutes of portraits using the Gothic façade, courtyard arches and nearby laneways for moody, romantic compositions without entering (we shoot exterior/adjacent areas).
Tips from local experts:
- The best shots use the palace’s arches and shadows; follow the photographer’s positioning rather than standing directly in front of the main tourist flow.
- Cobblestones in this area are uneven — hold hands between shots for steadiness and elegance in movement photos.
- If you’re planning a surprise (proposal or gift), tell the photographer beforehand — they’ll capture genuine reactions while keeping the moment private.
Bridge of Sighs — classic Venetian portrait stop
15 minutes of romantic, close-up and wide-angle portraits near the Bridge of Sighs, making the most of the canal reflections and historic architecture.
Tips from local experts:
- Position slightly to the side of the main viewing point to avoid large tourist clusters and to get clean lines in the frame.
- Use the canal reflections (if calm) for dramatic couple portraits; ask the photographer to check both standing and sitting poses on the steps.
- If you want a private feel, request quieter angles — the photographer knows tucked-away viewpoints for less interrupted shots.
Private gondola segment (short) — photos from the water
25-minute private gondola ride for cinematic, floating portraits beneath the Bridge of Sighs and along the immediate canals. Note: the standard gondola fee (€90 or current local rate) is paid directly to the gondolier and is not included in the session price.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a lightweight, color-coordinated scarf or hat — small accessories show beautifully from the water and move well in wind.
- Sit with slightly angled bodies toward the camera (photographer will position you) — this reads romantic and avoids flat, frontal poses.
- Confirm with the gondolier before boarding if you prefer quieter routes (some gondoliers will take slightly different canals to reduce noise and crowds).
Wrap & next steps — quick recap and delivery info at Caffè Florian
10-minute wrap: confirm any favorite frames, the delivery timeline for the edited gallery, and optional extras (express 24h delivery). Finish with a brief celebratory coffee if you’d like.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask the photographer which 2–3 poses they recommend for prints or social posts — they can tag favorites for you in the gallery.
- If you bought gondola photos, mention this now so the photographer can note which frames were taken from the gondola for special edits.
- Spring mornings can be cool; if you brought a light wrap, this can be used for cozy, layered portraits during the final shots.
