This scenic tour begins with a pickup from select downtown Portland hotels. Visit the beautiful Columbia River Gorge! Your adventure will take place along the Historic Columbia River National Scenic Byway, where some of the locations we may stop include: Portland Women’s Forum, Crown Point Vista House, Latourell Falls, Multnomah Falls, and Shepperd’s Dell. Your tour will start with the view from Portland Women's Forum. This location is absolutely breathtaking and it's one of the best spots to soak in a view of one of the most beautiful places on earth: the magnificent, awesome Columbia River Gorge. Next, we will stop at Crown Visit Point House with a complete overlook of the Gorge region. Crown Point Vista House, best known of the scenic lookouts along the Historic Columbia River Highway, provides a panoramic view of the Columbia River. The Crown Point Vista House was built in 1916 and refurbished and completely remodeled in 2005.Our next stop is Latourell Falls. This waterfall plunges 249' over a massive wall of columnar basalt, some of the best formations in the Pacific Northwest, before cascading hastily toward the Columbia River. This waterfall is usually most recognized for the large patch of bright yellow lichen adorning the cliff face to the right of the falls, and this characteristic has led many famous photographers to this captivating location. Other waterfalls we may stop at while driving on the Historic Columbia River Highway include: Bridal Veil Falls- Beautiful Bridal Veil Falls is an elegant and graceful lady that can be fully appreciated from the deck of a viewing platform rebuilt in 1996. The creek hustles down from the top of nearby Larch Mountain, tumbles over the cliff and eventually flows into the mighty Columbia River.Next we will drive to Multnomah Falls. According to Native American lore, Multnomah Falls was created to win the heart of a young princess who wanted a hidden place to bathe. Multnomah Falls is the most visited natural recreation site in the Pacific Northwest with more than 2 million stopping by each year to take in the views! Fed by underground springs from Larch Mountain, this is one of the best places in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area to study geology exposed by floods. The tour ends with a return trip and drop-off at your downtown Portland hotel.

Oregon Coast Day Trip: Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock

Oregon’s coastline is graced with unforgettable vistas: dramatic cliffs, offshore rocks and sea lions, wide sandy beaches, majestic capes, historic lighthouses, enchanted forests and lovely small beach towns which artists and artisans make their home. Locations we may visit include: Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, Short Sand Beach at Oswald West State Park, Neahkahnie Point, Ecola State Park, and Manzanita while enjoying spectacular views of the dramatic Oregon Coastline. Neahkahnie Point: This peak is an inspiring place, where the Tillamook tribe believed their most powerful god resided. In fact, the name Neahkahnie comes from their words Ne ("place of") and Ekahnie ("supreme deity"). Manzanita: Manzanita is a beautiful oceanside city with seven miles of sandy beach and the third most photographed scenery in Oregon. While here you can enjoy a spectacular walk by the ocean or explore their lovely downtown. Short Sand Beach/Oswald West State Park: Stretching along four miles of coastline in dense, temperate rainforest, Oswald West State Park has a beautifully secluded sandy beach and miles of trails leading to breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. This vast, scenic treasure is without a doubt one of the most spectacular parks in Oregon. Cannon Beach: This picturesque small-town village by the sea is easily walkable and you will be able to explore meandering pathways, enjoy public art and courtyards spilling over with flowers. Known as one of the Northwest’s top art towns, Cannon Beach is filled with art galleries, specialty shops, cafes and fine dining restaurants. While in Cannon Beach you will have time for lunch at one of their amazing restaurants. Cannon Beach is also famous for its amazing beaches. Historic Haystack Rock: Haystack Rock is one of Oregon’s most recognizable landmarks, home to colorful tidepools and diverse bird life. It rises 235 feet from the edge of the shoreline. At low tide, you can walk right up to it and find colorful sea stars and other fascinating tidepool creatures in its intertidal area. Puffins can be observed on Haystack Rock from early spring to mid-summer, offering the most accessible viewing of Tufted Puffins in the Northwest. Ecola State Park: No visit to Cannon Beach would be complete without visiting Ecola State Park, perched dramatically on the edge of Tillamook Head. Ecola Park Road winds through old growth rainforest before emerging at one of the Oregon Coast’s most famous views, overlooking numerous rock formations and the capes and headlands miles to the south. Oregon Coast Tour-Eugene

After pickup from one of three meet-points travel by Sprinter Van to the Sea Lion Caves which is a privately owned wildlife preserve and bird sanctuary (since 1932) centrally located just 11 miles north of Florence on the beautiful and rugged Oregon Coast. We will also stop at Heceta Head Lighthouse this is a working lighthouse. From a height of 205 feet above the ocean, its “first order” Fresnel lens, casts it’s beams some 21 miles out to sea. It is the brightest light on the Oregon coast. It is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the United States. You will have the option to walk the short 1/2 mile trail (150 feet gain) up to the lighthouse, walk on the beach, walk under the Historic McCullough Cape Creek Bridge, or just sit and listen to the rhythmic waves and take in the sea mist of the Pacific Ocean. Next we will visit Yachats where you will have several dining options to enjoy lunch along with galleries, boutiques and coffee shops or maybe a little ice cream is in order! If seafood is what you came for, it does not get any fresher from several local restaurants purchasing from local fishermen taking pride in the catch of the day. With Yachats being our turn around point, you will now be even more impressed with the vistas as we make our way South to Florence. There will be several stopping opportunities for pictures, short walks, beaches and dramatic geologic formations that may include (all weather permitting): DEVILS CHURNCAPE PERPETUACOOKS CHASMTHORS WELLBOB CREEK or OCEAN BEACHFinally we will visit Florence and the Historic Old Town district of this inland coastal village originally built on docks lining the Siuslaw river banks. With Florence’s long time logging and fishing history, it was positioned perfectly between the coastal forest range and the Pacific ocean, taking advantage of the easy river access. Florence and the Siuslaw river is the Northern border of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area spanning 40 miles (60 km) south along the Pacific with dunes as high as 500 feet (150 m). The Oregon Dunes are a unique area of windswept sand that is the result of millions of years of wind and rain erosion on the Oregon Coast. These are the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in North America. The dunes provide numerous recreational opportunities including off-road vehicle use, hiking, photography, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding, and camping.Return to Eugene.

Private: Hiking Adventure

The first stop of the day will be at Willamette Falls. This is a horseshoe-shaped block waterfall caused by a basalt shelf in the river bottom. The 42-foot-high and 1,500-foot-wide falls occurs 26 river miles upstream from the Willamette’s confluence with the Columbia River. It’s the largest waterfall by water volume in the Northwest and the 18th largest by volume. Around the falls are the locks, which are the oldest continuously operating multi-lift lock and canal system in the United States.Next we will make our way to Silver Falls State Park. This area was settled originally by the Kalapuyan Indians. They most likely used the area for hunting, as well as for spirit quests. A small town was established in the Silver Falls area, although it was abandoned by the time the park was created in 1933. While you are here you will be able to hike part of the Trail of Ten Falls (approximately 3 miles, further if you are able) and some of the waterfalls you may see are: South Falls- This is the highlight of Silver Falls State Park, and due to its proximity to the city of Salem, is likely one of the most popular waterfalls in Oregon outside of the Columbia River Gorge. The falls are produced where South Silver Creek plunges 177 feet over a huge overhanging basalt cliff with a large pool occupying the bottom of the amphitheater. North Falls- The massive recess behind North Falls is especially unique and a favorite feature of visitors to the park. The undercut cliff extends back from the falls for at least 100 feet, and the ceiling runs anywhere from 20 to perhaps as much as 75 feet above the trail as it passes behind the falls. The huge size of the under cut chamber allows the roar of the falls to be amplified considerably, making the falls sound quite powerful. Twin Falls- During the wet season North Silver Creek splits into two channels and spills down an angled basalt ledge, creating two veiling curtains. Middle North Falls- This is a markedly amorphous waterfall which changes physical shape in a very dramatic way as the volume of water in North Silver Creek changes. The 106 foot tall falls take the form of a narrow column of water during the summer months, funneled to perhaps 5 feet wide at most by a narrow runnel in the bedrock. Double Falls- Double Falls is the tallest waterfall in Silver Falls State Park – by a hair – and also the best of the handful of tributary waterfalls found along the Trail of Ten Falls. Drake Falls- Rumbles over a broad sloping ledge of basalt set in the middle of a fairly deep, narrow constriction in the canyon of North Silver Creek. Lower North Falls- North Silver Creek produces the falls as it rumbles down a 30-foot tall dome-shaped protrusion of basalt and forms a large pool at its base. The domed shape of the falls inspired the nickname “The Thunderdome” among the whitewater kayaking community. At the end of the day we will drop you at your downtown Portland hotel.

Crater Lake 3-Day Tour from Portland

Day 1: Depart Portland to Silver Falls State Park People call it the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Parks system, and once you visit, you know why. Silver Falls State Park is the kind of standout scenic treasure that puts Oregon firmly onto the national—and international—stage. Its beauty, boundless recreational opportunities and historic presence keep it there. Nestled in the foothills of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, less than an hour east of the state capital of Salem, the sprawling 9,200 acre property is the largest state park in Oregon, and one of the most popular. You will be able to check out the famous South Falls and see what a 177-foot curtain of water looks like from behind. We will also visit North Falls and you will be able to walk behind it! Lunch (on own) in Silverton, Oregon. After lunch we will depart Silverton for wine tasting. Overnight EugeneDay 2: Crater Lake National Park As we drive to Crater Lake we will stop at Salt Creek Falls which is Oregon’s second highest single drop waterfall, cascading 286 feet (87m). (Multnomah Falls is the highest.) This waterfall is also one of Southern Oregon’s most powerful falls, with an average yearly flow of 50,000 gallons per minute surging over the rocks. Upon arrival at Crater Lake we will spend half the day visiting all the incredible vistas, visitor centers, overlooks & Historic Lodge. Crater Lake has inspired people for thousands of years with some of the 1st Native Americans who discovered it’s beauty and mystic. No place else on earth combines a deep, pure lake, so blue in color; steep surrounding cliffs almost two thousand feet high; two unique picturesque islands; and a violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty and the Nations deepest lake over 1,900 ft deep. Lunch Crater Lake National Park (not included) Overnight in Bend, Oregon Day 3- Bend to Portland This morning we will visit the High Desert Museum. This unique museum reveals the natural world and cultural history of the West’s High Desert region through artful exhibits, alluring animals, engaging programs and meaningful history. The Museum is feels like stepping into a different time and place. Next we will make a brief stop at Smith Rock State Park, which is one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon. Its towering rock spires have beckoned climbers from around the globe since the 1980’s. Next stop Timberline Lodge! You won’t see anything else like it, anywhere. Legendary, awe-inspiring, a tribute to the rugged spirit of the Pacific Northwest. Monumental lodging on Mt Hood with year round skiing.
