Oslo Walking Tour with Passionate Independent Guide (in German)
We begin this tour close to the Norwegian National Opera House, one of my favourite highlights of the city. Our meeting point is the “Creature from Iddefjord” (Skapning fra Iddefjord) sculpture outside Deichman Bjørvika Library. As we move along the waterfront you will learn fascinating details about the comprehensive urban development that has shaped the Bjørvika district, and which includes the Munch Museum, the Opera, the ever expanding floating sauna landscape, and other buildings that might surprise you.We will then make our way towards the Kvadraturen district. Here we will dive a little deeper into the history of the city and how it came to be known as Christiania for just over 300 years. We will ascend to the highest point of the Akershus Fortress grounds for stunning views over the Oslofjord. On a sunny day, you will even be able to spot the famous Holmenkollen Ski Jump.We will then carry on towards the heart of Oslo, Karl Johan street, to discover how the city and country are governed, educated and entertained; the Norwegian Parliament, National Theatre and Royal Palace among others. If you like shopping, take note as you might want to return here later.During the final part of the tour we will head towards Oslo’s magnificent City Hall and finally the Aker Brygge district, where I will give you some great tips for visiting the National Museum, Nobel Peace Centre, restaurants and Oslofjord tours. If you choose the Vigeland Park add-on, we will board the tram at Aker Brygge to visit the world's largest sculpture park envisioned and created by a single artist. The extended tour will conclude after the park visit. Why choose this tour?As an independent guide, I've created my own tours, driven by my passion for Oslo’s rich culture and history. After years of designing itineraries/scripts for tour companies, I’ve embarked on my own to offer a more personal, authentic experience. Unlike the generic tours provided by companies that subcontract local guides, my tours are thoughtfully crafted and full of personal insights and stories.I just started on Tripadvisor/Viator with just a few reviews yet, but I am highest rated on other booking platforms (google me).My average tour group is 2-4. Private tour vibes, with group tour prices.Suitable for:* Solo Travellers* Couples* Groups of friends* Photo takers* If you want to see as much as possible in a short time* Anyone who wants a unique, personal experience with a focus on culture and history

Oslo Walking Tour: Oslo’s Historic & Trendy East (in English)
We will begin this tour at Kulturkirken Jakob (Jakob Culture Church). From here we will move into the Grünerløkka district. You have probably heard that it is known for bars, restaurants and independent shops, but I will also tell you about the area's really interesting history. I live nearly, so of course I will point out all the hippest places right now. We will discover a very photogenic creative arts and music hub right by the river. Along delightful paths, we will then follow the river upstream to Vulkan, a model for green urban living, with cutting edge venues and Oslo’s best food hall.We will then make our way along cobbled Damstredet and picturesque Telthusbakken with its charming, small, wooden houses from the early 19th century. At the top of the hill we will visit the Cemetery of Our Saviour, a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city, where the final resting places of Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen can be found. We will then carry on up along the Akerselva river, and see how the river’s factories have been converted into design centres and art academies. We will stroll through the mist of urban waterfalls while we learn about the impact the Industrial Revolution had on Oslo, and the areas surrounding the river in particular. If you like we will stop for tea, coffee or a delicious waffle (at your own cost) at a cute spot on top of one of the waterfalls. From here we will head back into the hustle and bustle of Grünerløkka. Weaving our way through numerous lesser known streets packed with history, we will pass award winning cafes, buzzing hangout spots, and I can point out my favourite cocktail bars and restaurants.Depending on your wishes, the tour will either finish at one of the tram stops in Grünerløkka, or at Ankerbrua, close to where we started. Why choose this tour?As an independent guide, I have created my own tours, driven by my passion for Grünerløkka’s rich culture and history. After years of designing itineraries and scripts for larger companies, I’ve created Oslo By Heart to offer a more personal, authentic experience.
