Wild West Coast Adventure (Part 2)
Driving north out of Inverness, we cross the Kessock Bridge before heading west through Achnasheen to Lochcarron. Here we can spend some time at Lochcarron Weavers Heritage Shop before our route takes us to Kishorn and the Bealach na Ba. This dramatic mountain pass, famous for being one of the most scenic drives in the world, takes us from sea level to over 2,000 feet before descending back to the shore at Applecross. The delightful Applecross Inn provides an opportunity for a delicious local seafood lunch. The epic scenery seems to continue endlessly as we follow the coast road round to Shieldaig. The views to Skye, the Isles of Rona & Raasay and a glimpse of Harris in the far distance are simply breathtaking! We can stop for a bite of lunch in Shieldaig if we've missed Applecross, and then continue through the majestic Torridon mountains to Kinlochewe. The route back to Inverness takes us through Glen Docherty and provides an opportunity to enjoy our favourite view of Loch Maree.

We’ll begin with a gentle drive along the north shore of Loch Ness, stopping briefly at Invermoriston for a stroll by the falls and a visit to the curious Clog and Craft shop. Continuing north west from here, passing beautiful Loch Cluanie with a possible coffee stop at The Cluanie Inn, we'll pass through the majestic mountain landscape of Kintail. We can stop near the foot of the glen to take a look at the site of the Battle of Glenshiel (1719). We then head over the Ratagan pass, taking in some magnificent views of the Five Sisters of Kintail before dropping down to Glenelg. Here we will investigate the famous Glenelg Brochs, two 2,000 year old structures just past the village, before heading for the community operated ferry to take us over the sea to Skye. Over The Sea to (secret) Skye
The journey to Skye takes us through many majestic landscapes. Travelling the Great Glen alongside Loch Ness, we’ll head north west at Invermoriston, passing the Five Sisters of Kintail before descending through the site of The Battle of Glen Shiel towards Loch Duich and our first glimpse of the west coast.We’ll take time for a visit to Eilean Donan Castle before heading over the Skye Bridge. Our time on Skye will be spent away from the crowds, exploring the beautiful Sleat Peninsula, "The Garden of Skye". Our visit to Isle Ornsay allows time to explore the curious Gaelic craft and whisky shops and gallery... we can pop back in here later for a whisky tasting too!We continue south to Armadale Castle & Gardens, and then to the southern most point of Skye along the most picturesque road on the island. The views to Knoydart, Loch Nevis and The Isles of Eigg & Rhum are simply breathtaking If time allows, we can return to the mainland by the Glenelg ferry enroute back to Inverness.

Cairngorms; Highest Mountains, Bonnie Lochs & Ancient Forests
We'll head south from Inverness over The Slochd Summit from where we see our first view of The Cairngorm Mountains. We continue on to the Highland Folk Museum, Newtonmore where you can discover the history and heritage of The Scottish Highlands.From here we will enjoy a lovely tour along the quieter back roads of Badenoch & Strathspey. We'll visit Ruthven Barracks before passing through Rothiemurchus and Loch Morlich. Our journey then takes us up to Cairngorm ski area and UK’s highest mountain railway.
