Oslo Walking Tour: Oslo’s Historic & Trendy East (in English)

We will begin this tour at Kulturkirken Jakob (Jakob Culture Church). From here we will move into the Grünerløkka district. You have probably heard that it is known for bars, restaurants and independent shops, but I will also tell you about the area's really interesting history. I live nearly, so of course I will point out all the hippest places right now. We will discover a very photogenic creative arts and music hub right by the river. Along delightful paths, we will then follow the river upstream to Vulkan, a model for green urban living, with cutting edge venues and Oslo’s best food hall.We will then make our way along cobbled Damstredet and picturesque Telthusbakken with its charming, small, wooden houses from the early 19th century. At the top of the hill we will visit the Cemetery of Our Saviour, a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city, where the final resting places of Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen can be found. We will then carry on up along the Akerselva river, and see how the river’s factories have been converted into design centres and art academies. We will stroll through the mist of urban waterfalls while we learn about the impact the Industrial Revolution had on Oslo, and the areas surrounding the river in particular. If you like we will stop for tea, coffee or a delicious waffle (at your own cost) at a cute spot on top of one of the waterfalls. From here we will head back into the hustle and bustle of Grünerløkka. Weaving our way through numerous lesser known streets packed with history, we will pass award winning cafes, buzzing hangout spots, and I can point out my favourite cocktail bars and restaurants.Depending on your wishes, the tour will either finish at one of the tram stops in Grünerløkka, or at Ankerbrua, close to where we started. Why choose this tour?As an independent guide, I have created my own tours, driven by my passion for Grünerløkka’s rich culture and history. Continuing past Sørenga, we will proceed to take in the views of some of the picturesque islands of the inner Harbour area, including Hovedøya, Bleikøya, Gressholmen, Langøyene and Lindøya. The journey continues across the bay to the Sandvika archipelago where we will get up close to the many water front houses along the shoreline and islands there. At this point, we may want to stop for a swim to cool off before we pick up the pace and set course for Håøya to visit the very friendly cashmere goats who spend their summers there. Håøya has a charming cafe and bakery and the best island served cinnamon buns in the Oslo Fjord, along with other speciality foods (and ice cream, ofcourse).Once we feel ready to move on, we will keep heading south through the sound of Drøbak, heading for Løvøya island, where your glamping host will welcome you and get you settled in. Løvøya has beautiful hikes, beaches for bathing, activities for kids, and a cafe. For dinner, you have the choice of the local cafe which has an informal, varied menu, or visit one of the restaurants in the nearby towns of Horten or Åsgårdstrand. High-end dining is available, and can be booked on your behalf upon request. There is also the option to plan your own barbeque dinner by your tent.Day 2:After a pleasant evening and a comfortable nights sleep, breakfast at the cafe will get us set up for another magnificent day on the water. We may begin with a tour of the inner harbour of Horten, before we head due east towards Moss, and pass through the quirky little channel. Continuing north through Mossesundet, a seafood lunch in the town of Son may tempt us, before we head for Oscarsborg. The history of what happened in the Oslo Fjord when Norway was invaded April 9th 1940 is present in many of the places you will visit, but none more than Oscarsborg Fortress where the shots that sunk german warship Blucher were fired from. An interesting visit for both young and old. Professional guide available.Eventually, we'll have to turn the bow north towards Oslo and enjoy the Oslofjord sunset as we make our way back to the city.Getting closer, we wiill pass the iconic Dyna lighthouse, Tjuvholmen with the Astrup Fearnley museum, and Aker Brygge before we arrive at our final destination in front of the Oslo City Hall, expecting to disembark around 17.00.Informal commentary, local facts and history provided by your skipper while you can relax and enjoy time on the water.Looking to go further? Add a second night, and let's plan something spectacular somewhere in the outer islands of Færder, Hvaler or both.Customise? Ofcourse! Let us know what you have in mind - we are flexible.

510Outer Oslo Fjord Fishing Daytrip (From Oslo)

Outer Oslo Fjord Fishing Daytrip (From Oslo)

Join us for an unforgettable fishing experience in the outer reaches of the Oslo Fjord!Starting off with a gentle cruise putting Oslo City harbour behind us, enjoying the fresh sea air and maybe a cup of fresh coffee as we adjust our heading for some of Salty Beard's secret fishing spots towards the outer parts of the Oslo Fjord. This trip has a minimum duration of 6 hours, as it requires a 1,5 hours boat ride from Oslo city.We will never claim to be expert anglers, but we do have a few tricks up our sleeve, and we always have a great time out on the water. All equipment is provided, but feel free to bring your own if you wish.Although no guarantees are possible, we often have amazing wildlife encounters with eagles, whale, seal, dolphin and more.Let us know if you are looking for an expert fishing guide to come along - we can arrange that too.We normally advise our guests to bring along some snack or food for a picnic onboard, but if you would like us to organise that just let us know in the comments during checkout and we will make arrangements. This outing can easily be combined with sightseeing, custom pick-ups or drop-offs, or other special wishes you may have. Please note we will always operate well within the legal requirements. Rules and regulations may change, and may prohibit us from fishing certain species, and may limit options as to where and when we can fish. From the 01.01.2026 all fishing will be prohibited in the inner Oslo Fjord, which means our fishing trips will start off with a 1,5 hours boat ride and sea safari before fishing can start south of  the island Jeløya. This also means we must plan for a 1,5 hour return to Oslo.
