391Meet the Reindeer like a local with a snowmobile sled, Levi

Meet the Reindeer like a local with a snowmobile sled, Levi

We offer you a once-in-a-lifetime experience of meeting the reindeer in a traditional way at a local reindeer farm. Take advantage of this exclusive private experience just for our small group. Avoid the tourist buzz and crowds. Our host keeps long-standing family traditions in reindeer herding. Reindeer always live free most of the year in nature and are only collected into the farm for the wintertime for proper feeding and care. Animals’ well-being is the top priority of the farmers. We don’t use reindeer for rides, they live on the traditional feeding grounds and move around freely within a big farm area. Our groups are quite small (up to 15 people) and visits are scheduled only 2 times a day.First, we will get dressed in warm winter clothing and helmets. Then we will drive about 7 minutes outside Levi center to the pickup point, where we will change from car to a sled and go for a ride pulled by a snowmobile. On our way we will see beautiful Lappish nature: open bogs, forests and fells. Part of the route lies on private lands, where we will be exclusive visitors one-on-one with nature. After some 15 minutes of sled ride, we will arrive straight to the reindeer enclosure and in the blink of an eye you will be surrounded by the “sea” of reindeer. Our host, the owner of the reindeer farm, will greet you, introduce himself and his family and get you acquainted with the Lappish reindeer husbandry experience. You will pick up the food and start feeding the reindeer. We use different types of food, usually hay and pellets. As we slowly move through different feeding locations, we get to meet and feed dozens of reindeer. This is a great opportunity to spend quality time with these beautiful animals, be close to them and take nice photos. Some of the reindeer might let you touch them, while most of them are still quite shy, as they are wild animals, living most of the year free in nature. We call this experience “reindeer therapy”, for its peaceful and relaxing impression. The farm is positioned in a beautiful spot with nice views to open bogs, forests and surrounding fells. You will spend about one hour outside with reindeer. The host will tell you interesting facts about the reindeer and the herder’syear. As you start to feel chilly, we will invite you inside the warm Lappish hut (kota), where our chef will offer you lunch.Get comfortable on the benches covered by reindeer skins close to the open fire and we will offer you a warm drink of your choice: herbal tea (naturally decaffeinated) and berry juice. Being outside in the cold naturally increases your appetite, so it’s time to eat locally made reindeer sausage grilled in the open fire. Sausages are made ecologically from the local ingredients and taste like you never had before. After that our chef will serve you thin and crispy pancakes topped with jam from local berries and whipped cream. Pancakes are usually best accompanied by freshly made coffee in a pot on the open fire. In the meantime, our host will continue with storytelling about the reindeer and arctic way of living and of course answer your questions. Finally, it’s time to practice lasso throwing outside the hut (kota). This experience is always lots of fun. At this point, you will receive a personal diploma of reindeer herder’s assistant. Then it’s time to say goodbye and return to Levi by car/minibus directly from the farm.

Northern Lights check by car, Levi

This program increases your chances of spotting the Aurora by going outside Levi area (within maximum 50 km from Levi center).  We provide you with comfortable transportation with an experienced driver - either a minivan or minibus. We will be driving within 30-50 km around Levi for 2-hour time searching for unobstructed Northern hemisphere sky view and minimum light pollution and hoping to spot the Northern Lights. Clouds can make it difficult to see the Northern Lights. Clouds can have different thickness, and wind can significantly change the cloud cover quickly, therefore sometimes even in cloudy weather, we still have chances of seeing the Lights or a glimpse of it through the opening in the sky and even through the clouds. It takes knowledge of the local weather, patience and pursuance. The driver will offer you a warm drink and gingerbread cookies during a stopover.

As the snowmobiles come to a stop, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a “sea” of curious reindeer — a moment that feels both magical and authentic.Your host, the local reindeer herder and farm owner, will greet you warmly and introduce his family and the farm’s history. This farm represents generations of traditional Lappish reindeer husbandry, where reindeer live free in nature for most of the year and are brought to the farm during the winter for feeding and care. You will be given a bucket of feed — typically hay and specially formulated pellets — and start feeding the reindeer yourself. Moving slowly through different feeding areas, you'll have the chance to interact with dozens of semi-wild animals. Some reindeer may come close enough to touch, while others keep a polite distance, maintaining their natural instincts. This immersive moment — walking quietly among the semi-wild animals, offering food by hand, surrounded by snowy trees and stillness — is what we call “reindeer therapy.” It's a peaceful, grounding experience that brings guests closer to Arctic nature and wildlife than ever before.Throughout your visit, you’re welcome to take photos and capture memories. The farm itself is nestled in a scenic location, with beautiful views stretching over open bogs, snowy forests, and distant fells — a perfect backdrop for winter adventure in Lapland.Reindeer always live free most of the year in nature and are only collected into the farm for the wintertime for proper feeding and care. Animals’ well-being is the top priority of the farmers. This is a non-riding farm — reindeer roam freely in large, fenced areas. Our groups are quite small (up to 15 people) and visits are scheduled only 2 times a day. After spending time outdoors feeding the reindeer, you’ll be invited into a warm and cozy Lappish hut — known as a kota. Inside, wooden benches covered with reindeer hides surround an open fire, creating the perfect setting to warm up and relax. To start, you’ll be offered a hot drink of your choice: herbal tea (naturally caffeine-free) or hot berry juice to help restore warmth and energy after time in the cold. Then it’s time for a fun and authentic Arctic tradition: grilling your own reindeer sausages over the open fire using long sticks. This hands-on experience is a beloved part of Finnish and Lappish culture. The sausages — made from ethically sourced, local ingredients — are full of flavor and taste even better after outdoor adventure. Vegetarian or other dietary options are available upon request. After the main course, enjoy a sweet dessert: thin and crispy pancakes topped with jam made from hand-picked Arctic berries and fresh whipped cream, served with coffee brewed over the open fire in a traditional pot. All ingredients are locally sourced, celebrating the seasonal tastes of Lapland. While you enjoy your meal, your host will continue sharing stories about reindeer life, Sámi-inspired traditions, and the realities of Arctic living. 581Reindeer Herder's Day with lunch and snowmobile sled, Levi

Reindeer Herder's Day with lunch and snowmobile sled, Levi

We offer you a once-in-a-lifetime experience of meeting the reindeer in their natural habitat by visiting a reindeer forest in the wilderness. Take advantage of this exclusive private experience just for our small group. Avoid the tourist buzz and crowds. Our host keeps long-standing family traditions in reindeer herding. Reindeer always live free most of the year in nature and only collected in the enclosures for the wintertime for proper feeding and care. Animals’ well-being is the top priority of the farmers. We don’t use reindeer for rides, they live on the traditional feeding grounds and freely move around within a large area in their natural environment. Our groups are quite small (up to 10 people) and visits are scheduled only 2 times a day.First, we will get dressed in warm winter clothing and helmets. After some 20-30 minutes of sled ride, we will arrive at an old forest with pine and birch trees. Forest is privately owned by the reindeer family and there are no other visitors in the whole area. Curious reindeer will approach the sled expecting to get food. Our host will greet you, introduce himself and his family and get you acquainted with the Lappish reindeer husbandry experience. You will spend about one hour outside with reindeer. The host will tell you interesting facts about the reindeer and the herders year. Being outside in the cold naturally increases your appetite. Our lunch menu starts with a savory vegetable soup with a local flat bread “rieska” slightly toasted on the open fire. Then we offer you a reindeer sausage that you should grill in the open fire by yourself (our chef gives instructions). Sausages are made from the local ingredients ecologically and taste like you never had before. After that our chef will serve you thin and crispy pancakes, freshly grilled on the pan on the open fire, topped with jam from local berries and whipped cream. At this point, you will receive personal diploma of reindeer herder’s assistant. Then it’s time to say goodbye and return to civilization. Our trip back is also by a snowmobile sled but a shorter distance this time (about 10 min).Note! This activity is recommended for families with children aged 10 and above!

By December we usually manage to build most of the snow park constructions, however, the building process continues in December as well. The whole park is surrounded by walls made of snow and ice. The heart of the park is the big Snow Igloo, the other snow constructions are Inuit snow igloo, snow slide for children, snow maze and of course snowman. The snow walls and other buildings are nicely illuminated and look truly amazing in the darkness. Our Polarman will invite adults and children into the big snow igloo to take part in the winter survival course. For children we have a snow playground with tobogganing on the snowslide, snow maze and tunnels. As the winter season goes by, the Snow Park grows bigger thanks to our unique “Build Your Own Snow Igloo” program. You can check the Igloos built by other guests on a 3-hour masterclass program.Polarman will then invite you inside our warm Aurora dome. The temperature inside stays +15 degrees or higher. You can sit comfortably and watch our blazing fireplace, while we serve you warm drinks and cookies. It's movie time! Enjoy a unique 20-minute movie on a big screen that will show you 7 different seasons of Lapland and Northern Lights. Polarman tells you some interesting stories and legends about this natural phenomenon and arctic life. Finally, it’s time for an outdoor Lappish BBQ experience! Sit comfortably around the open firepit while we offer you sausages on a stick to grill on the fire, followed by marshmallows. We share more interesting stories about the arctic life, have a good laugh together and enjoy watching the sky.Throughout the program our staff will keep an eye on the sky. 15Husky safari in a hidden forest kennel – self-drive 2 km, Levi

Husky safari in a hidden forest kennel – self-drive 2 km, Levi

Escape into the magic of the snowy Lappish forest with a visit to a secluded husky kennel just 15 minutes from Levi. Hidden deep among the trees, this peaceful haven welcomes you with the sound of eager paws and the quiet beauty of untouched nature. From the very first moment, it feels as if you’ve stepped into a secret world, where huskies live in harmony with the surrounding wilderness. The kennel is home to a large pack of friendly huskies — around 70 in total — including Siberian and Arctic-Alaskan huskies, as well as a few reindeer dogs. Each dog has its own name and personality, and guests are warmly introduced to the members of their team by the mushers — a personal touch that builds a real connection from the start.Upon arrival, your guide will provide clear instructions on how to drive (mush) your own husky sled — including steering, braking, and trail etiquette. Once you're ready, you'll head to the starting point to meet your husky team, already harnessed and eagerly waiting to run. You’ll embark on a self-driven 2 km husky safari, following a scenic trail through peaceful forest paths and open snow-covered fields. The landscape offers a different experience compared to river routes — more sheltered, quiet, and intimate. The ride lasts around 15 minutes, including a midway stop where driver and passenger can swap roles. After the ride, take a moment to thank your team and capture photos with the dogs. You’ll then enjoy a guided walk around the kennel, meeting more of the pack and learning about sled dog training, daily life, and the deep bond between mushers and their huskies. There’s also a special free-run area where some of the dogs can roam and play. Visitors are welcome to enter this space, pet and cuddle the huskies, and take relaxed, natural photos with them. It’s a unique chance to connect with the dogs in their own element. To end the experience, warm up in one of the two inviting huts: a stylish insulated yurt or a traditional Lapland kota with an open fire. In both settings, you’ll enjoy hot berry juice and cookies, while hearing more about husky life in the Arctic from your hosts. This kennel puts the well-being of the dogs first. The huskies live in spacious enclosures with plenty of room to run, rest, and socialize. Each dog receives daily care and attention, with rest days scheduled regularly to prevent overwork. Training is based on trust, motivation, and positive reinforcement — and it shows in the dogs’ enthusiasm and happiness. When harnessed, their joyful howls and wagging tails speak for themselves.
