Sinharaja Trekking One Day Tour (Start from Galle)
Sinharaja Rain Forest, UNESCO named a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka. It is an ideal day trip for nature enthusiasts who visit Sri Lanka. The trip starts at 6 am from Galle and will take 3 hours to reach the entrance of Sinharaja Rain Forest. You can decide on how far you are going to walk inside the jungle depending on your capacity. The reserve is only 21 km (13 mi) from east to west, and a maximum of 7 km (4.3 mi) from north to south, but it is a treasure trove of endemic species, including trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Because of the dense vegetation, wildlife is not as easily seen as at dry-zone national parks such as Yala. There are about 3 elephants and the 15 or so leopards are rarely seen. The most common larger mammal is the endemic Purple-faced Langur. An interesting phenomenon is that birds tend to move in mixed feeding flocks, invariably led by the fearless Greater Racket-tailed Drongo and the noisy Orange-billed Babbler. Of Sri Lanka's 26 endemic birds, the 20 rainforest species all occur here, including the elusive Red-faced Malkoha, Green-billed Coucal and Sri Lanka Blue Magpie. Galle City and Tea Factory Tour by Classic Car
You will be starting your tour at 8:30 am in the morning from your hotel in Galle. Your English Speaking chauffeur guide will pick you up in a beautiful classic car. The tour will start with a drive around the Galle Fort, where Colonial Dutch architecture is at its best. You can see a number of old buildings such as residences, shops and churches. You may even be able to stop by some of them. Your guide will also take you to the ramparts of the old fort, giving you the opportunity for some great photographs. He will also give you a brief on the Colonial invasions of olden-day Ceylon and the Galle Fort’s history. You will then be driving towards the outer edges of Galle City to visit the oldest markets in Galle, the Dutch Fruit Market and the Dutch Green Market. The stalls of the markets are located within long columned arcades with tiled roofs, dating back to the Dutch era 300 years ago. The old architecture combined with the colorful stalls filled with fruits, vegetables and greens make an attractive sight. You can purchase some tropical fruits to take along for your car ride, if you wish. Next you will be leaving the city to travel to the famous Handunugoda Tea Factory, the only factory in Sri Lanka that exclusively manufactures 100% Virgin White Tea. Along the way you will be able to enjoy the sights of quaint little villages, golden paddy fields, deep green woods, and a number of birds and animals. You will get to this tea factory in Ahangama approximately an hour later. Galle City and Countryside Tour by a Classic Car
You will be starting your tour at 8:00 am in the morning. Your chauffeur guide will pick you up from your hotel, in a beautiful classic car. You will then be touring the streets within the Galle Fort on the car. You will get to see many colonial era building; some of which are residences, shops and churches.
