Discover Miyajima beyond the famous floating torii gate.Experience Miyajima on a fully private tour with an experienced, qualified Japanese local guide who knows the Hiroshima region deeply. Most of our guides were born and raised in Hiroshima, and all bring genuine local knowledge, international experience, and clear, easy-to-understand English. Your guide will help you connect the island’s beautiful scenery with the history, traditions and spiritual meaning behind it.At the heart of the tour are the floating torii gate, UNESCO-listed Itsukushima Shrine and peaceful Daisho-in Temple. As you explore, you will begin to understand why Miyajima has been considered sacred for centuries, how Shinto and Buddhism coexist in Japan, and why nature and spirituality feel so closely connected here.Experience more than the famous sightsWalk through traditional streets, enjoy the island’s forests, deer and seasonal scenery, and discover quieter corners away from the busiest areas.Because this is your private tour, you can spend longer at a temple, stop for local food, ask questions freely, or simply slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.Depending on the season, weather, walking ability and your interests, Mt. Misen and the Miyajima Ropeway may also be considered.Private, flexible and easy from the startThere is no rigid script and no large group to follow.Your guide can meet you at your central Hiroshima hotel or Hiroshima Station and travel with you to Miyajima, so you do not need to work out the train and ferry journey on your own. Please note that travel from central Hiroshima to Miyajima takes about 1 hour each way. This 5-hour tour is designed to focus on Miyajima so you can enjoy the island without rushing. If you would like to visit both Hiroshima and Miyajima in one day, we recommend our full-day Hiroshima & Miyajima private tour. Please let us know in advance if you would like to hike Mt. Misen or join an optional local experience, such as making momiji manju by hand. The appearance of the floating torii gate depends on the tide. At low tide, you may be able to walk closer to the gate, while at high tide it appears to float on the sea.Leave Miyajima with more than beautiful photographs. Our hope is that you leave with a deeper understanding of why this island has been treasured for generations and why it still holds such a special place in Japanese culture.
