Departing from the quiet harbour town of Djúpivogur, this seven-hour shore excursion is crafted with cruise-ship guests in mind and takes you along Iceland’s striking southeast coast. You’ll travel southwards, following a route that reveals expansive sea views and the immense broad ice-cap of Vatnajökull looming on the horizon. The first stop is the breathtaking Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon — here enormous icebergs, calved from the glacier’s southern edge, drift serenely in the lagoon’s still waters before eventually making their way out to the sea. From there, the tour visits the nearby Diamond Beach (also known as Fellsfjara), a black-sand shoreline where glittering chunks of glacier ice wash up and create a surreal contrast of crystal ice against dark volcanic sand. Finally, on the return, the journey stops at the scenic Hvalnes Peninsula with its lonely lighthouse and the dramatic horn-shaped peak of Eystrahorn mountain standing vigil. Throughout the tour you’ll be guided by an experienced local guide, enjoy free WiFi on board, and be dropped back in time for your ship’s departure. Bring waterproof outer layers, warm accessories and comfortable shoes—and don’t forget to carry some snacks, as lunch isn’t provided
