Äkäslompolo sits on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, about an hour's drive or bus ride from Kittilä airport, and around 45 minutes from Muonio, the quieter side of Finnish Lapland. Snowshoeing is one of the most accessible activities to explore the snow covered trails and fjells here. To begin the tour, we will collect you from your accommodation and set off with a short transfer from Äkäslompolo, heading into the forest to begin snowshoeing.Away from real light pollution, the silence here is breathtaking. As you move, listen to the sound of snow underfoot, and on clear nights, watch the aurora overhead. This corner of Lapland records some of the cleanest air on Earth, measured at Pallas within this same national park and in nearby Muonio, so on a clear day visibility across the fells can reach tens of kilometres.Your guides, Ciara and Susi, call this place home. Before moving to Lapland, Ciara worked as a sea kayaking guide and windsurfing instructor, and ran her own tour business in Ireland. She came here five years ago to work as an expedition guide with sled dogs, and now owns a family of eight dogs together with Susi as well as their company - Move with Nature. Guiding people outdoors is what she has built her working life around. Susi, from Germany, has called Lapland home for twenty years and is a veterinary technician by training. Together they run Move with Nature, leading groups of up to six guests at a pace suited to all experience levels to connect with nature on a deeper level. Solo travellers, friends, and families are equally welcome, with regular stops along the trail to take in the surroundings and photographs.About ninety minutes into the walk, we stop along the trail or at a hut for berry juice and a sweet treat, before continuing back to Äkäslompolo.Move with Nature runs a select number of tours each week. Explore Wild Arctic Trails, 1:1 with Your Husky

You'll walk Arctic Lapland's Wilderness trails paired 1:1 with your own husky, working together.You will be collected from the meeting points or your accommodation in Äkäslompolo and start with a warm welcome and safety briefing. You'll meet the Alaskan Huskies, who we work with. Alaskan Huskies are a working dog, bred over generations for stamina, speed, and drive rather than a set look, which is why they all look different. What they share is an enthusiasm for the trail that's hard to match. You'll be paired 1:1 with one for the walk, then fitted with a waist harness before we show you how we communicate with the dogs, practicing steady walking, and teamwork allowing your husky to walk ahead, leading the way.During the tour, you will explore trails around Äkäslompolo, and routes within Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park which are typically 6 to 12km, depending on the conditions and group ability, at a pace built around connection rather than speed. In autumn, that means peaceful forest paths, golden colour, and open fell views. Family Husky Experience in Arctic Lapland
Located in the Pallas–Ylläs National Park, you will experience the true Arctic Lapland away from crowds or large groups, led by the people who raise, train, and live with them year-round. Our Family tours are designed for families with younger children, offering short routes (1–3 km) through beautiful winter forests and open trails. Our family husky tours are intentionally small (maximum 5 guests), so you have time to truly get to know the dogs, and the dogs get to know you.We’ll share how we raise, train, and live alongside these animals in Arctic Lapland. Moving by snowshoe or on foot, you’ll notice how alive the night becomes: the creak of frozen trees, the sound of our steps, and the silence from the arctic landscape. Our route follows trails through the wilderness in the Pallas-Ylläs National park, away from the bright lights. Along the way, we pause to enjoy a warm drink by the fire, sharing stories about Arctic nature and life here in the far north.This experience is not focused on chasing the northern lights, though if they appear, we have the opportunity to enjoy the moment and take them in. Northern lights horse sleigh ride
A trip with Finnish horse in snowy, dark forests while bells jingle is an amazing experience! Depending on the weather even admire the northern lights. After the ride you have a chance to meet our sled dogs! Sleigh ride takes approx. 20 minutes. Total duration 40 minutes.
Wolverine's Way – Horseback trail ride
A memorable horse back riding trek for experienced riders in the beautiful scenery of Lapland. The trip includes changing landscapes and different paces, depending on the weather and riders' skills. Wolverine's Way offers great opportunities to take in the peace and silence of Lapland, but also lets you whole-heartedly enjoy the sound of beating hoofs, as you fly through the forest paths. During summertime, the path takes you to a hidden fell stream – would you take the chance to wade through? After the trek you have a chance to meet our lovely sled dogs.Note that the participant must be an experienced rider and confident riding in open areas. A pony ride is an opportunity for children between 2-11 years to ride a hand-led pony. Children on pony rides do not handle the pony themselves, but they need to be old enough to sit up straight and hold their head up without support.
Siberian Jay's Way – Horseback trail ride
A charming horseback ride for those who want to experience horseback riding in the wild of Lapland, and enjoy the silence of the forest and the beauty of nature. The trip includes walk and trot, depending on the weather conditions. Before the ride, we shortly introduce the horses you'll be riding, and after the ride you have an opportunity to meet our sled dogs.
