Itinerary
Day 1

Hotel pickup (Ao Nang area) / Transfer to sanctuary
Shared transfer from hotels in Ao Nang to the sanctuary. For guests from Railay/Tonsai/islands, pickup will be arranged at Ao Nam Mao Pier and travel time will include the pier transfer.
Tips from local experts:
- Be ready in the hotel lobby 5–10 minutes before your scheduled pickup window to keep transfers on time.
- If you are on Railay/Tonsai or an island, expect pickup at Ao Nam Mao Pier; confirm your pier meeting point in advance.
- Bring a light daypack with any medications, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle — drinks are included onsite but having a personal bottle is convenient.
Welcome & Sanctuary Introduction
Arrival briefing: sanctuary rules, elephant care and natural behaviours to observe during your visit.
Tips from local experts:
- Listen to the briefing carefully — it covers safe distances, how to approach the elephants, and where children should stand.
- Ask staff about shade and seating locations if you need a calm place to sit during the visit.
- Use the provided hat and boots for sun and terrain protection — parents should check children’s footwear fits securely.
Feed: Offer treats on a tray
Hand-feed the elephants prepared treats such as bananas and sugar cane placed on a tray so guests can observe them up close in a respectful manner.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep fingers flat on the tray while feeding; staff will demonstrate the safest hand positions.
- Children should be supervised closely during feeding — allow younger children to feed from a short distance if recommended by staff.
- If anyone in your group has allergies, inform staff before feeding; treats are typically fruit-based (bananas, sugar cane).
Walk: Gentle stroll with the elephants
A supervised, gentle walk through a safe sanctuary area to observe natural movements and behaviour.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear the provided boots and dress in lightweight, quick-dry clothing — terrain can be uneven and slightly muddy.
- Keep a slow pace and maintain the distance recommended by guides; this is an observational walk rather than a strenuous hike.
- Bring insect repellent suitable for children — apply before the walk, avoiding eyes and hands for little ones.
Prep: Make elephant treats & paint a fabric bag
Hands-on session preparing treats (Thai sticky rice and bananas) and painting a fabric bag as a keepsake.
Tips from local experts:
- Children enjoy the painting activity — bring a spare T-shirt or apron if you are worried about marks on clothing.
- If anyone has food allergies, notify staff before the treat-prep portion; sticky rice and fruit are used in this activity.
- Allow extra time for drying the painted fabric bag; staff will advise when it’s safe to pack the bag for travel.
Meal: Vegetarian meal after activities
A vegetarian meal inspired by local Thai flavours is served after the activities. Please inform staff of any dietary restrictions in advance.
Tips from local experts:
- The program serves vegetarian meals only — if someone in your group has strict dietary needs, inform the operator before arrival.
- If a child needs smaller portions, ask staff — they can often accommodate child-sized servings from the standard menu.
- Guests with nut or other allergies must notify staff in advance; the sanctuary does not provide additional on-site food ordering.
Wrap-up, lockers & short rest
Time to use lockers, freshen up, ask final questions, and prepare for return transfer.
Tips from local experts:
- Use the provided locker for valuables while you are on walks or during activities.
- Check that all children have water and sunscreen reapplied before boarding the transfer back to hotels.
- If you need to charge a phone, ask staff about the on-site charging or Wi‑Fi options during this brief rest period.
Return transfer to Ao Nang hotels
Shared return transfer to hotels in the Ao Nang area (or to Ao Nam Mao Pier for guests heading to Railay/Tonsai or islands).
Tips from local experts:
- Expect to arrive back in Ao Nang approximately 45–60 minutes after departure depending on traffic and any pier stops.
- Keep travel documents or pier tickets handy if you will be dropped at Ao Nam Mao Pier to continue to Railay/Tonsai.
- If you require a child seat for very young children, request this in advance so staff can prepare appropriate seating.
