Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival, 2.5-hour family cooking workshop at Sabores Taller de Cocina, then a relaxed park visit and chocolate museum stop.
Arrive & Check-in — Sabores Taller de Cocina (buffer)
Arrive at the cooking studio and check in with the host. Use this short buffer to let kids use the restroom, fit aprons, and meet your instructor.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a small snack and water for younger children to avoid hunger before the workshop starts—there's no long wait once class begins.
- Studio is in the Born area — plan 5–15 minutes extra if you’re walking with a stroller on cobbled streets.
- If your child has allergies, tell the host at check-in (they adapt ingredients if informed in advance).
Family-Friendly Paella Cooking Masterclass (hands-on workshop + communal meal)
A fully interactive 2.5-hour class led by a professional chef. Children (recommended ages 4–12) get safe, adapted tools and tasks while parents help with technique. After cooking, sit together at the communal table to enjoy the multi-course meal you prepared (includes Sangría for adults and non-alcoholic Sangría for children). Digital recipe pack provided.
Tips from local experts:
- Children aged 4–7 do best with supervised, short tasks (stirring, simple plating); older kids can help more with ingredient prep—ask the chef for tailored tasks.
- Ask for a child-sized apron and a seat near the workstation edge so kids can see the cooking action without climbing.
- Take photos during plating—they’ll love seeing their finished paella served at the long communal table. Consider bringing a lightweight folding booster seat if your child needs it.
Short Break & Walk to Parc de la Ciutadella
A brief pause after the meal to change diapers/clean up as needed, then a short walk to Parc de la Ciutadella for playtime and fresh air (great for kids to burn energy after lunch).
Tips from local experts:
- The walk to the park is stroller-friendly but includes some narrow streets—use a compact stroller if possible.
- There are public restrooms near the park; bring small change for any pay-toilet facilities and wet wipes for rapid cleanup.
- If the kids are tired, look for a shaded bench under the park trees for a 10–20 minute quiet rest before play.
Relax & Play — Parc de la Ciutadella (playground and boating option)
Let kids enjoy the playground or paddle boats (seasonal) in the lake while adults relax on benches. The park is stroller-friendly with shaded paths and many toilets nearby.
Tips from local experts:
- The main playground near the Cascada Monumental is well shaded in May—bring sunscreen and a hat for kids in case of sunny spells.
- If you want a quiet spot, head toward the lake’s western side where fewer tourists go; it's easier to supervise little ones.
- Check boat rental hours if you'd like to take a short paddle—operators sometimes close mid-afternoon; buying tickets early avoids disappointment.
Sweet Finish — Museu de la Xocolata (Chocolate Museum)
A short, child-friendly visit to the Chocolate Museum for hands-on displays and chocolate sculptures—an interactive, tasty way to wrap up the afternoon.
Tips from local experts:
- The Museu de la Xocolata is compact and stroller-friendly; go straight to the interactive displays kids enjoy most.
- Plan for a short visit (30–45 minutes) — young children can get overstimulated; available benches make quick rests easy.
- Buy a small chocolate souvenir from the museum shop as a keepsake—portions are family-sized and often allergy-labeled.
