Itinerary
Day 1
Meet in Tirana and transfer to Berat (approx. 2.5 hours).
Meet & Transfer: Tirana to Berat
Meet the guide and group on Rruga Ludovik Shllaku in Tirana. Depart at 08:30 for Berat; the drive crosses the Dumre region with hill and lake views and passes Elbasan. Travel is by air-conditioned vehicle with a driver/guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Meet at the stated address on time; boarding and short check-in take ~10–15 minutes before departure.
- Bring a light jacket for the morning drive — temperatures can be cooler in the hills, even in spring.
- Keep your ID/passport handy for hotel/vehicle check and for optional museum ticket purchases in Berat.
Day 1
Guided walking tour of Berat’s Kala (castle), neighborhoods (Mangalem, Gorica) and free time; return transfer to Tirana included.
Berat City Tour (Kala, Onufri, Ethnographic Museum, Gorica Bridge)
Arrive in Berat and begin the guided city tour in the castle (Kala) area. The walk through the castle involves cobbled and steep sections to reach panoramic viewpoints across Mangalem and Gorica. The Onufri Iconography Museum (optional entrance) is within the Cathedral of the Assumption; the National Ethnographic Museum (optional entrance) is in a historic house in Mangalem. Cross the 18th-century Gorica Bridge and enjoy free time for a short stroll and optional lunch in a local restaurant. After the visit, return to the vehicle for the transfer back to Tirana.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable, grippy shoes — the castle and streets are cobbled and include short, steep sections.
- Museum entrances (Onufri, Ethnographic, and Castle) are optional and paid on-site; have small-change cash or a card available.
- For a romantic photo moment, head to the higher viewpoints inside the Kala for framed views of the Mangalem houses and Osum river — best mid-tour while light is still soft.
