Itinerary
Day 1
Pickup in Berat & transfer toward Osumi Canyon
We pick you up in Berat city and begin the private transfer to the Osumi Canyon meeting point. Prepare to depart promptly so we can arrive, kit up, and start the activity within the published 5-hour window.
Tips from local experts:
- Be ready in the hotel lobby or agreed pickup point 5–10 minutes before the scheduled pickup to keep the group on time.
- Wear quick-dry clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting wet; you will change into the provided neoprene on arrival.
- Bring any personal medication or small valuables with you on the transfer; the vehicle space for carry items is limited.
Arrival, gear fitting & safety briefing
On arrival at the canyon staging area we fit neoprene suits, helmets and harnesses and complete a safety briefing and short skills demo (basic rappelling, hand signals, assisted movement). Guides check equipment and route conditions before entering the canyon.
Tips from local experts:
- Listen closely during the safety briefing and ask guides to repeat any rope or signal instructions you don’t understand.
- Remove jewelry and empty pockets before gearing up to avoid loss or discomfort under wetsuits and harnesses.
- If you wear contacts bring a small contact case and solution in a sealed plastic bag; goggles are not provided.
Canyoning and rappelling at Osumi (Bigazi waterfall section)
Guided progression through the canyon including short wades, scrambling, and multiple rappels down canyon walls, focusing on the waterfall and narrow rock passages. Guides manage rope systems and group pacing; snacks and bottled water included mid-activity.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep movements slow and deliberate on wet rock; use guide instructions for foot placement during rappels and scrambles.
- Pack a small dry bag for phones/camera if you must bring them; otherwise leave electronics in the vehicle to avoid water damage.
- Take the included snack during the designated break—it’s timed to give you energy for the final rappels.
Return to Berat (wrap-up, change, and drop-off)
Change out of wet gear at the staging area, quick debrief with guides, then private transfer back to Berat. Estimated arrival back in Berat completes the 5-hour activity window.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a towel and a change of dry clothes for the return; drying facilities are limited at the canyon staging area.
- Keep wet items in the waterproof barrel provided by guides to protect the vehicle interior during transfer.
- Confirm your preferred drop-off point in Berat with the guide at the end of the activity (hotel or central meeting point).
