Itinerary
Day 1
2½-hour guided ring-making workshop at Langestraat 50 in central Bruges. Sessions typically start at 10:00, 11:00 or 15:30; this itinerary uses the 10:00 start as an example. Total workshop time: 150 minutes.
Arrival, check-in and welcome refreshments
Arrive at the workshop, check in with the instructor, be fitted with a protective apron and enjoy coffee, tea, water and a small chocolate while the instructor outlines safety and the session plan.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 5–10 minutes before the session start to allow time for check-in and apron fitting.
- Wear closed-toe shoes as required (no sandals or flip-flops).
- If you have food allergies, inform the instructor on arrival — light snacks and drinks are provided.
Design, sizing and planning your ring
Work with the instructor to choose a ring width/profile and size. Sketch or describe any simple inscription or motif; the instructor will confirm what can be completed during the session.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a ring you already wear (or the correct finger measurements) to help set the size accurately.
- Keep designs simple — the session is focused on core forming and finishing techniques.
- Discuss inscription text at the start; short inscriptions fit best within the workshop timeframe.
Forming, soldering and shaping
Hands-on metalwork session: cutting, forming the silver, soldering the ring, and initial shaping. The instructor supervises all tool use and hotwork.
Tips from local experts:
- Follow the instructor's safety instructions closely when near hot tools and soldering equipment.
- If you or your partner prefer to take photos, ask the instructor for a good moment during shaping — it makes a nice keepsake.
- If you have limited mobility or difficulty standing for periods, let the instructor know so they can arrange a seat or adjust tasks.
Finishing, polishing and presentation
Final polishing, any simple inscription or texture work, and presentation of the finished ring. Time for final photos, pairing the take-away ring with its story, and brief aftercare advice.
Tips from local experts:
- Polishing can alter the final look — ask for a demonstration of different finishes (matte vs. polished) before finalizing.
- Allow time for photos together during the presentation for a relaxed couple moment.
- Take brief notes on aftercare provided by the instructor (cleaning and storage) so your ring stays in good condition.
