Itinerary
Day 1
Full 3-hour guided kayaking and snorkeling tour departing from the Marina area in Cabo San Lucas. Choose either a 09:00 or 14:00 departure; sample schedule below uses the 09:00 departure (recommended for calmer conditions).
Meet & check-in — Plaza Gali (Marina parking)
Meet guides at the Plaza Gali parking lot near Paseo de la Marina for check-in, waivers and a brief safety talk before heading to the beach launch area. Tour departures run at 09:00 or 14:00; this schedule follows the 09:00 departure.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes before departure to complete check-in and any required paperwork.
- Bring a valid photo ID for check-in and any vouchers you received.
- Wear your swimsuit under clothes and slip-on shoes — you'll board from the beach and will get wet.
Transfer to beach launch & equipment briefing
Short transfer on foot from the meeting point to the beach launch. Guides fit life jackets, distribute snorkel gear and glass-bottom kayaks, and run a hands-on safety briefing.
Tips from local experts:
- Stow small items (phone, keys) in a provided dry bag or leave them at the pickup vehicle.
- If you need a wetsuit, tell the guide during check-in so they can size one for you.
- Practice a quick paddle-and-breathing drill during the briefing if you’re new to kayaking or snorkeling.
Pelican Rock — Cabo Marine Protected Area (snorkel and glass-bottom viewing)
Paddle and glide by glass-bottom kayaks to Pelican Rock, one of the best snorkeling spots in Cabo. Stop to observe reef fish from the kayak and enter the water for a guided snorkel where conditions allow.
Tips from local experts:
- Apply reef-safe sunscreen before launching; reapply only on land to protect marine life.
- Secure cameras and phones in a waterproof case or dry bag — you’ll be close to water during glass-bottom viewing.
- Follow the guide’s instructions on entry/exit points for snorkeling to protect coral and avoid boat traffic.
El Arco de Cabo San Lucas — close approach & sea lion observation
Paddle toward the iconic El Arco rock formation. Guides position kayaks for optimal viewing of the arch and nearby sea lion colonies while ensuring a safe distance and minimal disturbance.
Tips from local experts:
- Observe sea lions from a respectful distance — do not attempt to touch or approach them in the water.
- Be prepared for occasional swell or chop near the arch; remain seated and follow the guide’s positioning instructions.
- Assign one person to take photos from the kayak; sudden movements can rock tandem kayaks—move slowly and communicate.
Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) — visit and optional landing
Visit Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) for shallow-water snorkeling and beach viewing. Landing is dependent on swell and guide assessment; if conditions permit, the group may step ashore briefly.
Tips from local experts:
- Landing on Playa del Amor depends on swell — if guides advise against disembarking, enjoy snorkeling and beach views from the kayak.
- Wear water shoes for any brief landings as rocks and shells can be sharp.
- Keep personal items sealed in a dry bag if you step onto the beach; waves can reach the sand unexpectedly.
Playa del Divorcio (Divorce Beach) — coastal viewing (no landing in rough seas)
From the kayaks, the guide will point out Divorce Beach and explain local sea conditions. This stretch faces the open Pacific and can have strong surf; disembarkation is rarely possible here.
Tips from local experts:
- This beach faces the Pacific and can have strong currents — do not swim here unless instructed by the guide.
- If sea conditions worsen, stay in the kayak and follow the guide for a controlled return to the launch point.
- Listen for the guide’s safety brief before any approach to shore; surf conditions change quickly on this side.
Return to launch, equipment return & debrief
Paddle back to the launch area, return equipment, change/dry off as needed, and enjoy final snacks and refreshments. Guides handle gear collection and a short debrief about the outing.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a lightweight towel and a change of clothes for the return — you will be wet after snorkeling.
- Place wet gear in the provided bags and keep personal items together for the transfer back to the meeting point.
- If you have motion-sickness concerns, wait to eat until you’re back on land and stable; guides provide light snacks after the tour.
Transfer back to Plaza Gali & tour end
Short transfer to the original meeting point for tour conclusion and drop-off. Guides will confirm return times and any final instructions.
Tips from local experts:
- Allow 10–20 minutes after the tour to change and pack before boarding the return transfer to your hotel or meeting point.
- If you require transport to a specific hotel, confirm pickup arrangements with the operator in advance.
- Expect to be back at the Plaza Gali area within the scheduled end time; plan onward activities accordingly.
