Itinerary
Day 1
Half-day guided shore-snorkel visiting two protected bays (Santa María then Chileno). Total activity time on voucher: 3 hours including transfers between beaches.
Carretera transpeninsular San Jose del Cabo - Cabo San Lucas
Short scenic transfer along the Tourist Corridor en route to the first snorkeling bay. Driver/guide provides a brief safety and orientation talk before arrival at the beach.
Tips from local experts:
- If you booked pickup, expect a hotel pickup window before the listed start time — confirm pickup details with the operator the day before.
- Carry a small daypack with ID, any required medication, and a light cover-up — windows and shade can be limited on the roadside.
- Morning departures are recommended for calmer seas; operators commonly advise the 09:00 departure for families.
Playa Santa Maria (Santa Maria Bay & Public Beach)
Guided shore-entry snorkeling in a protected bay with clear, calm water and abundant reef fish. Bilingual instructors fit gear, review safety, and lead the group along shallow reef areas suitable for children aged 6 and up.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a rashguard; sunscreen application before arrival reduces time on the beach and protects marine life.
- Plan for restroom and shade breaks — the public beach has basic facilities but limited shade; bring a lightweight beach umbrella or sun hat for kids.
- Life jackets are provided and recommended for children and less-confident swimmers; inform guides of any swimmer who needs special assistance before entering the water.
Playa Chileno (Playa el Chileno)
Second snorkel stop at Playa El Chileno — another calm bay known for clear visibility and diverse fish and coral formations. Relax on the sand after snorkeling; refreshments and snacks provided by the operator.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect a short transfer on paved roads between bays — allow a 10–20 minute buffer for the move and getting re-geared.
- Snorkel shoes or sturdy sandals help when entering from a rocky shoreline; if children are wading, supervise closely near rock edges.
- If anyone in your party has back issues, expect staff to advise against participation; this tour is not wheelchair accessible and requires basic mobility to enter/exit the water.
