Itinerary
Day 1
A relaxed coastal day built around a 1-hour paddle surf rental at Poseidon Diving; easy walking, seaside lunch and two romantic golden-hour moments.
Meet at Poseidon Diving — check-in & safety briefing
Arrive to complete registration (ID deposit required), get fitted with board and optional life vest and receive a short safety & technique briefing.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring the ID/passport required as a deposit — leave a single document with staff and keep a photo copy on your phone to feel secure.
- Ask staff for a quiet cove recommendation for photos — they know where the water is calm and the light is best for couple shots.
- Arrive 15 minutes early to secure a board size you prefer (larger boards are more stable for couples’ photos).
Paddle surf rental — 1 hour on the water
One-hour paddle board rental: guided demo, launch from the shore and free time to explore the nearby coastline and small coves.
Tips from local experts:
- Plan a mini photo-session 10–15 minutes into the session when you’re comfortable on the board — the water and cliffs make a very romantic backdrop.
- Wear a light swim top and quick-dry layers as晚breezes can be cool out on the water; sunscreen and a wide-brim hat (or strap) are essential.
- If you'd like more calm water for photos or romance, ask to paddle toward the small coves west of the launch — staff can point them out quickly.
On-water photo & cove time
A relaxed additional half hour to float, take photos, and soak in the coastline before returning your board.
Tips from local experts:
- Sit facing each other on the board for stable, intimate photos — it’s steadier than standing once you’re comfortable.
- Keep snacks (small, packed) in a waterproof pack for a quick nibble on the water — a couple of dates or nuts go a long way.
- Return a few minutes early to rinse off salt and avoid a rush at the return desk.
Change & quick refresh
Shower/change at Poseidon or nearby beach facilities and prepare for the coastal walk.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a quick-dry towel and a light cover-up for comfort on the walk; small changing facilities can get busy so pack efficiently.
- If you brought valuables, ask Poseidon about a small secure spot for your phones during the walk.
- Reapply sunscreen and bring a refillable water bottle — July sun is strong even after being on the water.
Scenic Camí de Ronda walk to Llafranc
Walk the famous coastal path (Camí de Ronda) from Calella de Palafrugell to Llafranc — short, scenic sections with cliffside views perfect for couples.
Tips from local experts:
- Choose comfortable shoes with grip — some stretches have uneven stones; a slow pace works best for photos and conversations.
- Pause at the small viewpoints (miradors) for private moments and postcard-style photos — the benches face west for late afternoon light.
- If you prefer a gentler route, follow the lower path alongside the sea rather than the higher cliff path; both are beautiful but the lower is less exposed.
Seaside lunch at Platja de Llafranc (promenade picnic or restaurant)
Relax over a slow seaside lunch on the Llafranc promenade — choose a beachfront table or a picnic on the sand for a private feel.
Tips from local experts:
- Reserve a terrace table facing the sea if you prefer a restaurant — ask for a sunset-facing seat when booking for the best romantic view.
- If you prefer a picnic, pick up fresh bread, cheese and local empanadas from a seaside deli — a simple spread tastes fantastic on the beach.
- Order a local rosé or cava to share — light, chilled wines are perfect for summer afternoons by the sea.
Coffee & promenade time — relaxed stroll
Wander the Llafranc promenade, enjoy gelato or coffee and browse small shops; time to relax before the afternoon garden visit.
Tips from local experts:
- Pick a café with a seafacing terrace for a quiet people-watch moment — late afternoon light is especially flattering.
- Look for locally made ceramics or artisanal souvenirs as small mementos of the day.
- If you want a quieter spot, head a few metres off the main promenade toward the little marina near the end of the beach.
Cap Roig Botanical Gardens visit — late afternoon
Wander the beautifully landscaped Jardins de Cap Roig for Mediterranean flora, sculptures and intimate viewpoints — ideal for romantic photos.
Tips from local experts:
- Aim to arrive late afternoon when the gardens are cooler and the light is golden — perfect for intimate photos among the blooms.
- Wear comfortable shoes (paths are mostly smooth) and bring insect repellent in summer evenings.
- Check opening hours and consider a guided mini-tour if available — it highlights quiet corners and the best photo spots.
Relax / change before dinner
Time to rest, freshen up and prepare for an evening dinner; return to Llafranc or Calella for a sunset meal.
Tips from local experts:
- Use this time to change into a light evening layer — sea breezes can cool off quickly after sunset.
- If you reserved a restaurant, confirm your booking and request a terrace table if available for golden-hour views.
- Charge your phone and download any photos to free up space for sunset shots later.
Dinner on the Llafranc promenade (romantic seaside dining)
Enjoy a relaxed dinner on the promenade — fresh seafood, local Catalan dishes and a sea breeze make for a romantic meal.
Tips from local experts:
- Book ahead and ask for a seafacing table to enjoy the sunset glow while you dine — summer evenings fill up quickly.
- Order a seafood sharing plate to sample local flavors together — it encourages relaxed conversation and tasting.
- Keep the pace unhurried — savor a digestif or glass of cava after the meal and let sunset approach leisurely.
Golden-hour sunset at Far de Sant Sebastià (Llafranc lighthouse)
End the day with a short walk to the lighthouse viewpoint for a quiet, romantic sunset over the bay — a true special moment.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive ~15–20 minutes before sunset to claim a bench or quiet rock for an undisturbed view — bring a light blanket if you wish to sit.
- Bring a small portable speaker and play one song that’s special to you both for a private moment at the viewpoint.
- Check sunset time for the date you visit (July sunsets are late) and time your dinner reservation so you’re free to walk over after eating.
