Itinerary
Day 1
Private door-to-door tour. Hotel pickups start before the tour start time; primary tour time 08:00–16:00 (approx.). Tour order follows the operator's route along the Cape Peninsula with short walking segments at viewpoints, Cape Point and Boulders Beach.
Hotel pickup (V&A Waterfront / Cape Town CBD / Atlantic Seaboard)
Driver/guide collects guests from hotels, guesthouses or the cruise terminal in the pickup zones listed in the booking notes. Please be ready 15 minutes before your confirmed pickup time.
Tips from local experts:
- Have your hotel/meeting point name and room number ready in the booking notes so the driver can locate you quickly.
- Pickups typically occur within a 30-minute window before the listed tour start—remain contactable by mobile.
- If you are at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal or a specific address, confirm the exact collection point in advance with the operator.
Clifton & Camps Bay coastline (drive-by + short photo stop)
Drive along the Atlantic Seaboard past Clifton and stop briefly at Camps Bay for photos and coastline views.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a light windproof layer—the Atlantic Seaboard can be windy even on warm days.
- The best framed photos of Camps Bay are from the promenade area near the palm-lined strip.
- Restrooms and cafes are available at the Camps Bay promenade if you need a quick stop.
Hout Bay and Chapman’s Peak Drive (scenic drive & lookout)
Scenic drive around Hout Bay followed by Chapman’s Peak Drive with a short stop at a lookout for photos.
Tips from local experts:
- Chapman’s Peak has narrow sections—stay with the vehicle and follow the guide for safe photo stops.
- There can be a short toll/entrance charge on Chapman’s Peak Drive; keep small change accessible.
- If you feel motion-sick, sit facing forward and avoid heavy meals immediately before the drive.
Local bird/ostrich farm-style stop (short wildlife/photograph break)
Short stop at a local bird/animal spot encountered en route to Cape Point to see regional birdlife (operator uses a locally available working farm or bird sanctuary depending on the day's routing).
Tips from local experts:
- This stop is brief—if you want extended time with animals, mention it to the guide at pickup so they can advise on feasibility.
- Wear closed shoes for quick farm or sanctuary surfaces and be ready for uneven ground.
- Follow guide instructions near enclosures and do not feed animals unless explicitly permitted by staff.
Cape of Good Hope & Cape Point (nature reserve, lighthouse visit)
Enter the Cape Point / Cape of Good Hope area for coastal panoramas. Walk up to the lighthouse area; option to use the funicular (return funicular excluded). Stairs present at the lighthouse viewpoint.
Tips from local experts:
- The Cape of Good Hope entrance fee is payable at the reserve entrance—keep your ID and payment method accessible.
- Wear comfortable shoes for short steep sections and bring a hat; it can be windy and exposed at the point.
- If you prefer to avoid stairs, remain at the lower viewpoints—the funicular (optional, extra) reduces walking to the lighthouse.
Boulders Beach penguin colony (visit)
Visit the boardwalks at Boulders Beach to observe the African penguin colony. Short walk across fixed boardwalks; beach access available.
Tips from local experts:
- Penguins are a protected species—stay on the boardwalks and do not attempt to touch or feed them.
- Bring sun protection and a bottle of water; beach areas can be exposed with little shade.
- The Boulders Beach entrance is managed—have your payment method ready as entry is paid on site.
Lunch in Simon's Town (relaxed break)
Lunch break in Simon’s Town. The driver can suggest nearby cafes and restaurants suited to couples; food and drinks not included by default.
Tips from local experts:
- If you have dietary restrictions, tell the guide in advance so they can recommend suitable nearby restaurants.
- Simon's Town has several waterfront cafes—ask the guide for quieter table options for a more intimate setting.
- Allow 40–50 minutes for lunch to stay on schedule; longer lunches may reduce time at the wine tasting stop.
Boyes Drive viewpoint & Shark Spotters lookout (short stops)
Drive the scenic Boyes Drive with a short viewpoint stop over False Bay and a quick look at a Shark Spotters observation point.
Tips from local experts:
- Boyes Drive viewpoints are quick photo stops—keep cameras ready for sweeping False Bay views.
- Shark Spotters platforms are for observation; please respect any posted safety instructions and staff.
- These stops are typically brief; if you want more time at a viewpoint, notify the guide during the day.
Constantia wine estate tasting (or Noordhoek beer alternative)
Visit a reputable Constantia Valley wine estate for a tasting session (tasting fee excluded). As an alternative, the tour can be reversed to finish in Noordhoek Village for a beer tasting instead—confirm preference when booking.
Tips from local experts:
- If you prefer a wine tasting, notify the guide in advance so they can select the estate and confirm tasting opening times.
- Designated driver and passenger safety: if you plan to drink, consider alternating tastings or designating one non-tasting guest.
- Tastings usually run 30–45 minutes—please be mindful of the tour end time if you request extra tasting time.
Return to hotel / drop-off
Return drive to the pickup area (hotel or V&A Waterfront) with drop-off at the original pickup point or agreed alternative within the pickup zones.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your preferred drop-off location with the driver earlier in the day if you need a different drop-off point within central Cape Town.
- Traffic returning from the Constantia area can vary—allow a small buffer if you have onward travel plans.
- If you require assistance with luggage or mobility support at drop-off, inform the driver before the tour starts.
