Itinerary
Day 1
Shared half-day tour with hotel pick-up within Cape Town city (within 5 km). Total tour duration 5 hours — start 07:00, finish ~12:00. The schedule includes short stops and transit time between coastal viewpoints; wheelchair-accessible routing is used where possible.
Pickup from accommodation (within 5 km, Cape Town)
Guide collects guests from their accommodation within a 5 km radius of central Cape Town. You will receive a pickup time the day before via email or WhatsApp. Vehicle is air-conditioned and equipped for short boarding assistance where needed.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect a 10–20 minute pickup window; be ready at the agreed pickup location at least 5 minutes early.
- If you require step-free assistance, notify the operator in advance so the driver can assist boarding.
- Keep any personal medication or mobility aids with you; driver can store small luggage in the vehicle boot.
Bo-Kaap (Cape Malay Quarter) photo stop
Drive through the city centre with commentary en route. Short stop in Bo-Kaap to view and photograph the colourful houses and learn a brief history of the Cape Malay community. Opportunity for a quick local snack if desired.
Tips from local experts:
- Pavements can be uneven; use designated crossings and avoid blocking narrow sidewalks for other visitors.
- If you need to sit, ask the guide for a nearby bench or shaded spot — stops are brief (around 15 minutes).
- Cash is useful if you choose to buy a quick Cape Malay snack (samoosa/koeksister) from a local vendor.
Table Mountain National Park — Cableway lower station (weather permitting)
Arrival at the Table Mountain Cable Car Lower Station. Guests may purchase cable car tickets on the day (tickets excluded). Weather can affect operation; if the cableway is closed the guide will provide viewpoints from the park roads instead.
Tips from local experts:
- Cable car tickets are excluded; consider buying online ahead of time to reduce queuing, but be prepared for weather-related changes.
- Wear a light layer and comfortable shoes — it can be windier and cooler on the plateau even in spring.
- There is limited time at the top on this half-day schedule; follow the guide’s directions to accessible viewpoints and seating areas.
Maiden's Cove (Camps Bay) viewpoint stop
Short stop at Maiden's Cove for photos of the Twelve Apostles and Camps Bay coastline. A brief walking area and viewpoint ideal for quick photos.
Tips from local experts:
- The viewpoint area is paved but can be exposed to sun and wind; bring a hat and sunscreen.
- Walk slowly on uneven rocks and use handrails where provided; seating is limited so bring a small travel chair if needed.
- Restroom facilities are available at nearby Camps Bay cafés if required — ask the guide for the closest accessible option.
Chapman's Peak Drive — viewpoint stop
Drive along Chapman's Peak Drive with a stop at an official viewpoint for coastal scenery and photos. Toll is included for this stop.
Tips from local experts:
- The viewpoint has short walking sections; if you prefer to remain seated in the vehicle, inform the guide so they can arrange an accessible stopping point.
- Road can be windy; if you are prone to motion sickness, ask the driver to stop at a safe spot and step out for fresh air.
- Carry a light jacket — coastal breezes can be noticeably cooler than inland.
Boulders Beach (Simon's Town) — penguin colony boardwalk
Visit Boulders Beach to view the endangered African penguin colony from the boardwalks. Short guided walk along the designated pathways to observe penguins from a respectful distance. Note: entrance fee to the penguin colony is excluded.
Tips from local experts:
- Boardwalks are the best viewing option and are relatively level; use handrails if present and wear comfortable, non-slip shoes.
- Entrance fee to the penguin colony is excluded—have small change or card ready; follow posted rules to avoid disturbing the birds.
- Keep a moderate distance from penguins and avoid sudden movements or loud noises; benches are available at the viewing area for rest.
Muizenberg Beach quick photo stop
Final coastal stop at Muizenberg Beach to view the iconic colourful beach huts and walk briefly on the sand before returning to Cape Town accommodation.
Tips from local experts:
- The beach has level boardwalks near the huts; if you prefer limited walking, enjoy photos from the promenade.
- Sunscreen and a hat are recommended — the sun reflects strongly off the sand and water.
- There are public toilets and cafes nearby if you need a restroom or a light refreshment before the final transfer back.
Return transfer to accommodation (Cape Town Central)
Drive back to central Cape Town and drop guests at their accommodation within the 5 km pickup zone. Remaining time during return is used for transportation.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep any personal belongings with you and check the vehicle before disembarking.
- If you require assistance with steps from the vehicle to your accommodation, notify the guide in advance.
- Estimated arrival back in central Cape Town is around 12:00; traffic can vary—allow extra time if you have fixed onward plans.
